Jesse Jackson says "displaced residents" are not refugees

I'm watching an interview on CNN with the good saintly Reverend Jesse Jackson is trying to convince us that "refugee" is a racist term when referring to the "displaced residents" of New Orleans.

Pardon me, but that is BULL. I repeat: BULL. My dictionary defines "refugee" as "n. a person who flees for refuge or safety in time of persecution, war, disaster, etc." It cites the example, "...the great drive of the Germans towards Antwerp, which swept before it multitudes of Flemish refugees." Further definitions include "to take refuge in another state or country".

Nearly all the former residents of New Orleans have been forced from their homes by this disaster. The city has been utterly destroyed. Most managed to escape only with the clothes on their backs and whatever they could carry. They have no homes to go back TO. People are being resettled as far north as Greensboro NC. This has affected every race and socioeconomic class in the city from top to bottom. If that doesn't make them REFUGEES, then I don't know what does. I guess my dictionary is wrong.

Mr. Jackson, you are an ass. Isn't there some foreign dictator you could be cozying up to instead of bothering the good people of New Orleans who are so desperately trying to get their lives and their city back together? This is NOT the time to be stirring up racial and class divisions. I've given blood twice this week and I am currently attempting to ship $500 worth of bottled water to the affected region. What have you done other than attempt to make "refugee" synonymous with the N-word? I hope you sleep well tonight in your safe, dry, and no doubt well-guarded home.

I've interviewed Mr. Jackson twice and believe me...he's an idiot. With that in mind, anyone with any brains has to take what he says with a grain of salt.

As was said in the motion picture "Barbershop":

Client: "Don't let Jesse Jackson hear you say that."

Barber: "F*@# Jesse Jackson!"

Go barber go... :D
