Jim Axel was a consummate broadcaster with unparalleled skills in reporting and anchoring. I dream of being just half as good as Jim Axel was. I'm sure the Good Lord has a very special place for him upstairs.
Axel was before my time in Atlanta so I'm unfamiliar with him, but having read the article linked to above, he sounds like a helluva guy. I like his attitude and spirit. I've had a number of close friends battle cancer and my heart and prayers go out to ANYONE fighting this disease. May Jim beat it and continue on enjoying life for at least another couple of decades.
