Jim Barniak

Jim Barniak was a sports reporter/columnist for The Trentonian in Trenton. He left there to work in Philly and eventually became sports director at PRISM cable. He was a real class guy. He passed away several years ago.

Did he do play by play of sports broadcasts for PRISM?

Wasn't Barniak also, years ago, a sports columnist at the (original) Phila. Bulletin?

Wasn't he color commentator for a couple of years on Eagles' radio broadcasts? I remember Merrill Reese always calling Jim "Barns".

He did indeed go to the Bulletin after leaving the Trentonian. My best guess would be in the early seventies, but it is only a guess.

Jim Barniak was play by play guy for the Sixers, I believe, with Matt Goukas as his color guy and Marc Zumoff as the studio host. Barniak had a hand in pretty much everything sports related that was on PRISM, because I remember him on Phillies broadcasts, too. I think Zumoff has been the Sixers play by play guy since Barniak died...brain cancer, I think...
