Jim Braude and Margery Egan - Big Success on Boston Public Radio After One Year

That's full time talk but don't forget WBZ with Rea (no liberal he), Bradley Jay, and Jordan Rich...and what seems to be doing well here in town is not so much political talk as SPORTS talk. When WTKK started to really nosedive, it was said the aud. was fleeing not so much to music stations as to...98.5...

The truth is Peter Smyth had a fight with Jim Braude but his contract was tight and Smyth and Greater Media has had to pay through the nose on the rest of Braude and Egan's contract. Smyth let his politics cloud his judgment. Wonder he didn't get fired. As they say Egan and Braude are crying all the way to the bank. Smyth screwed his own company.

Looks like they were a lot smarter than that smart-ass Howie Carr who sabotaged his chance of going to TKK and got stuck in the hell that is now WRKO. Couldn't have happened to a finer gentleman.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead and Limbaugh is alive. What's wrong with this picture...Rush :"What, what,,,I can't hear you.... Oh, yeah. the Oxys killed not me -just my hearing."

Nothing. Limbaugh rehabbed from prescription drugs and stayed clean. Hoffman rehabbed and relapsed into a hard-core heroin user.

Ever wonder why you don't see a whole lot of very old smack users? Hoffman, who I thought was a great actor (his Capote role was one of the best characterizations ever) was following the normal career path for junkies.

TSB

Uh, as I recall, Peter Smyth is chairman and CEO of Greater Media. Exactly who would be the one(s) to "fire" him? And exactly whose contract was "tight": Braude's alone, or his and Eagan's?

FWIW, I thought J&M were a very interesting duo, perfect for mornings. I had my clock radio set to 96.9 back then. While I do not agree with their politics, their antics and innuendos were quite engaging.

While I also like Kuhner on 'RKO, should he be pulled from his gig, I wish 'RKO would try harder this time to go after J&M.

As to Mr. Smyth, once a time salesman always a time salesman.

Kuhner sounds like Jackie Mason in drag. You don't actually listen to him except for comic relief do you?

How can you not love his expressions:

"Omni, you're up next - GO!"

"No, no, no, no!"

"Jeff! Jeff! Jeff!"

"But let. that. go."

"My friends...."

I believe the nowradio fellow was actually asking why the CEO of a major radio group.company would be getting involved in blowing out local talent, as you had intimated.

I assume the answer is that you have no idea.

TSB.

You know what they say about the word ass-u-me.......

You know, Omnibus, if your last post (above) had a like button, I'd be hitting it! (And I'm sure so would many others.)

Where did you get this crap?

...but his contract was tight and Smyth and Greater Media has had to pay through the nose on the rest of Braude and Egan's contract.

No one "paid through the nose". Gr. Media paid out (most) of the rest of the contract, which is common with no-cut contracts.

As they say Egan and Braude are crying all the way to the bank.

No they are not. They got paid (most of) the remainder of their contract...which is what was agreed to.

Wonder he didn't get fired. Smyth screwed his own company.

Are you for real? No one got screwed, no one screwed his own company. There were no fights. No one was going to get fired.

Where do you get this BS?
