Kiddie Porn Charges for LI Traffic Reporter
Feb 14, 2006 2:50 pm US/Eastern
(1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) Special Agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Investigations in New York today arrested James Buckley, a drive-time traffic reporter for WALK FM in Patchogue. Buckley has been indicted on 10 counts of Possessing and Receiving Child Pornography.
In December, 2005, ICE Special Agents from Long Island obtained a warrant to search the contents of Buckley’s home computer. A forensic analysis of his computer revealed that still photographs and movie clips depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit activities had been downloaded from the Internet.
Martin D. Ficke, Special Agent-in-Charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in New York said, “This arrest is part of an on-going ICE initiative that is designed to protect our young people from child pornographers. ICE is committed to utilizing its resources to target those who would defy the law and exploit our children by prowling the Internet and downloading these images.”
Buckley will be arraigned this afternoon in the U.S. district Court of the Eastern District of New York, Central Islip. He will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlene R. Lindsay. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen bode will be prosecuting this case.
This arrest is part of Operation Predator, a nationwide ICE initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders, and child sex traffickers. Since Operation Predator was launched in July 2003, ICE agents have arrested more than 7,000 individuals, including more than 460 in New York.
ICE encourages the reporting of suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at 1-866-DHS2ICE. This hotline is staffed around the clock by investigators.
Suspected child sexual exploitation or missing children may be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, an Operation Predator partner, at 1-800-843-5678 or http://www.cybertipline.com.
