Jim Gardner apologizing on Action News?

I caught part of Action News at 11 last night and anchor Jim Gardner was apologizing for something, what was he apologizing for?

I made a post about it on another board. I caught pieces of it too, but put it all together. During the second segment of Monday's 11pm news they showed the video of a Colorado State wide receiver smashing into this 4 year old kid in the back of the end zone. The kid was there on the sideline in the back of the end zone as the receiver dove to make the catch during a spring scrimmage at CSU. The wideout collided with the kid head on (might one say helmet to midsection) causing the littlun to bleed pretty badly. In the end, luckily, said child only needed a few stitches as tests showed no skull fractures/trauma.

Jim apologized for airing the video due to its "disturbing" nature. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but I think he made more out of it than he needed to.

I saw the entire newscast, and I am now a CH6 fan, despite Monica's unseemly diamond lust.

They showed a brief clip of the event as a teaser going into break. They then played the clip in it's entirety, then again in slow motion, then again! As a parent, it was disturbing. The audio even had the kid screaming.

After the next spot break, Jim apologized, obviously unrehearsed. It was so refreshing to see a man make a decision on the fly and stand by it. It was wonderful, professional, and common decency old school.

Thank you WPVI.

True, in fact the only person who lusts her is her plastic surgeon. ;D

Gardner is the best news anchor in the last 30 years of Philly TV. He is a true legend

or another luster might be one whom lusts for a pudgy-faced trying-to-act-"cute" fake money-monger

What was the kid doing down on the field in the first place? Anybody want to bet the parents have already hired a lawyer?

A legend? The guy is a newsreader. The show is the star. It got along without Larry Kane and can get along without Gardner. If Garnder really had anything to do with the production of Action News how come he didn't spike the story before he read it off the TeleprompTer? He's talent: no more, no less. He should be suspended for going off script.

Hint: People who watch five TVs AND listen to multiple radio stations AND are online at the same time tend to miss a lot.
