Jim Gearhart's Replacement

Has anyone heard as to whom will replace Jim Gearhart when he retires? My stepmother thinks that maybe Ken Wright, who usually fills in for him, will get it. Another person at the dinner table said, "Imagine Don Imus getting it?"

My thought- that would be nice. I am sure that it would be a ratings spike upward if that was to happen; however, I don't see it happening." At one time, I thought that maybe Ray Rossi might want it, but why tamper with the chemistry of the Jersey Guys.

Does anybody else have any thoughts?

What about Johnny Stone from over at WAWZ. The guy is a right wing crackpot that tows the right wing political line and would fit perfectly in the slot. One old coot for another old coot. Besides it would open the morning slot at WAWZ to be filled with someone way more thoughtful like John Rivers. This is a chance for NJ 101.5 to improve their ratings and WAWZ to finally get rid of that crappy "Zoo" show they try to pass off as safe for the whole family.

How about our buddy Big Jay Sorenson??

Ray Rossi is a nice guy, but he would not be successful doing do a show on his own in ANY timeslot unless it involved playing music. This is just the opinion of a non-radio professional who has listened to the Jersey Guys since they started. Ray rarely has a strong opinion on anything and he doesn't have the verbal skills to adequately express himself when he DOES have a strong opinion on a topic. This is not a personal attack, but he really is a "sidekick" in the truest sense of the word. Putting him on solo on morning drive would be an absolute train wreck and anyone who listens to the Jersey Guys on a regular basis cannot disagree with me.

Have you seen 101.5's ratings? They don't need much help. Big Jay is not a bad choice, but I would think they would look to go a little younger (not super young, but someone 40ish maybe) to stay more consistent with the appeal of the rest of the talk lineup.

when is Jim going to retire?

I like Ken Wright, and liked him when he filled in last week for the Jersey Guys

Having worked with my friend Ray Rossi at four different broadcast situations (one of which involved me hiring him to be my production director), I have complete confidence that he is up to any challenge put before him.

The same thing goes for my friend Jay Sorensen, who can converse knowledgeably on virtually any topic from the ouster of Jim Florio to the booting of Sanjaya Malakar. We should never make the mistake of confusing age with mental outlook; one of the most talented oldies jocks I know is just 19 years old. It also applies in reverse.

Any radio station would be privileged to have either of those gentlemen gracing their morning show.

Mary Walter was a star doing mornings at WCTC and Passion Phones on NJ101.5. She is the natural choice to do mornings since she really is a true blue Jersey Girl. She also fills in for Fox radio nationwide !
No comparison to the others Mary Walter should get it hands down.

It's who will replace Jim Gearhart? "Whom" is objective case and the object of the verb "replace" is "Jim Gearhart." "Who" is the subject.

Who said anything about him retiring? Sorry, but this sounds like idle speculation. When he actually announces plans to retire, bring it up again. Who knows what air talent will be around and available at that time.

This is what you talk about at dinner? Really?

Very astute! The quick test to determine whether or not to use "whom" is to substitue "her" or "him." If "her" or "him" can be substituted correctly, than proceed with "whom." If not, use "who."

The classic example of "to whom" or "for whom" does not always apply. ;)

Example: That is a brand new car for him.
That is a brand new car for whom?

It is he knocking on the door.
It is who knocking on the door?

All of the above are correct. I have too much time on my hands at work. I can't take anymore.

Jim is the the one with class on that station so I hope he stays for a very long time.
As for his replacement Mary Walter sounds good filling in on Fox News Channel lately.

I smell another Jersey Guy hoax like Ryan Seacrest. This is just a hunch but follow me on this.

Tommy G having bypass surgery was discussed by the Jersey Guys. A woman called yesterday thanking them for saving her life by discussing it.
I believe Tommy G went on vacation and maybe the Jersey Guys thought it would be funny to say he had bypass surgery. Tommy G had no choice but to go along with it. The reason I don't believe Tommy G had bypass surgery is because he's back on the air within a couple of weeks laughing and carrying on with the callers. A few medical experts I spoke with said people with bypass can't take deep breathes because of the cutting of the sturnum for a least 6-8 weeks so talking is labored. It doesn't add up and I don't buy it. I won't be surprised if in a few weeks the Jersey Guys have a good laugh about this.

What does the Jerky Guys and Tommy's heart bypass have to do with Jim? Please don't sully the man's thread by mentioning either one of those douchy shows on it. Jim will leave when Jim decides to leave...not a minute before. Please show some respect to him.

Don't forget Poor Jim also has to be on a station with the worst shows like Dennis and Judy who dropped the f word for kids to hear and the station hasn't be able to find anyone as good as Mary Walter. Michelle Palenza is a cruel joke who doesn't have a clue. Michelle comes across as very dizzy. Rock on Jim you are an island to yourself.

Yep, lots of 16 year old kids are listening to a talk station between 10AM and 2PM, especially the ones in school.

It's really amazing how you accuse Tommy's health problems as being a fraud, completely decimate the entire platform of 101.5 daily programming EXCEPT for Gearhart, while still pushing a pro-Mary Walter agenda.

SHE'S BEEN GONE FOR 18 MONTHS. SHE'S NOT COMING BACK.

I believe the Jersey Guys will say or do anything including a made up heart bypass story about Tommy G. Talk to people in the medical field like I did and they will tell you that people who really have heart bypass surgery need 8 weeks to recoup. If you listen to Tommy he sounds fine talking and laughing with all his lonely late night sluts calling in. If I was his wife I would throw him out with his mid life crisis Corvette. All I'm saying is I don't have to believe anything the Jersey Guys say and this could be a hoax like Ryan Seacrest was that's all. As for Mary Walter she's the most qualified to replace Jim Gearhart so never say never that she won't return.

Saying you don't believe the Jersey Guys is one thing. Denigrating Tommy G is another. You obviously listen, considering you brought up the Vette. I believe this is the second time we've caught you listening after you said you would NEVER EVER LISTEN (the whole D&J dustup a few months ago where you had to crawl through a minefield and then grab the NOC list before turning off the radio)

Secondly, I need a good laugh. Explain to me how a lame relationship show makes her qualified to take over Gearhart's political show, where he takes all of five calls an hour.

Third, just please explain to me... if you hate D&J... if you hate the Jersey Guys... if you don't like Michelle... and you don't like Tommy... why do you even listen to the station? Why do you even bother?

I used to be a 101.5 P1. I moved on, but I still listen to a few hours of the Jersey Guys and Tommy G a week. There are radio personalities I don't like. There are radio personalities I despise. I don't use these boards to constantly trash them while pushing an unemployed jock.
