Gordon was a well-known session drummer in the 1960s who hooked up with Eric Clapton to form Derek and the Dominos in 1970. Unfortunately, he was also a schizophrenic (his substance abuse certainly didn't help the situation) who murdered his mother in 1983. He spent the rest of his life in prison, never getting parole.
