Jim Hunter left B1079

Sounds like a nice contest. Guess or pick our new morning show host and you can win BIG!

How long do we have to place our bets? ;)

I'll put my money on satellite since that seems to be Saga's answer to staffing their underperforming marginal signal stations now.

Does the format wheel spin?

I think an 80's format with Jake on morning would be appropriate....anybody else?

Why do some many want to see 107.9 go back to a 80's format? This has been
talked about for years on this radio board.

Fond memories of Star 107.9, and more attractive (25-54-centric) demographics than Oldies or Classic Hits.

Guess they are just trying to put right, what once went wrong. Nothing against the Oldies/Big Hits that 107.9 is playing now, it's great music. However, I'm sure that many who listened to the 80s on STAR 107.9 felt that it was yanked away from them long before its time. And if (drifting even further off topic) BNS does decide to drop 80s, it would make a bigger opening for an 80s formatted station.

Enough with topic drift. So who is going to replace Jim Hunter? ;)

Don't expect it with 107.9, though...

The upper brass there is not particularly fond of the "80's Hits" format. Though, who knows what time could change.

Jason,

I did have a flashback to Star 107.9 a few weeks back... I heard B107.9 play Diesel's "Sausalito Summernights" ... that song wasn't too popular where I grew up in Arkansas, so the only stations I have ever heard play that song were WLS (back in the 80s) and Star 107.9. It was cool to hear it again the other day. Haven't heard them play it since then. I'm still trying to decide if they have a fairly deep play list, or if I just seldom have my radio on. lol

You could always request that B1079 play it again. Of course if you are doing a Google search for their web site with the search string of "107.9 Columbus Radio", the first result I got was http://www.star1079.com, didn't get an actual direct link for the B1079 web site until about the 5th or 6th link. Maybe because they keep changing their name (i.e. Oldies, Classic, Big), it might be hard for your target audience to find you if you keep moving the target... uh, web site. ;)

Sounds like something they would play as their daily Lost 45.  But then you would have known it was a feature.  And their regular playlist does seem to go pretty deep sometimes.

When ODB first became B107.9 it seems they were at least 1/3 80's.  After awhile the 80's stuff disappeared almost entirely.  But it seems to have made a reappearance, though now as approx once-an-hour spice, somtimes a bit more.
