This is potentially disappointing to me as, particularly on the weekends, we watch channel 35, RetroTV a lot. They have a number of movie hosts, including the local "Son of Ghoul" show, that occasionally show some interesting old movies. Actually, "The Son of Ghoul" show is the worst of the bunch as he waaayyy-over does it on the sound effects added to the horror and sci-fi movies. Even worse is replacing lines of actual film dialogue with the same old comic lines from other movies used over and over again. Still, the other ones don't do that. "Lamia" is from the Northeastern Ohio area, I believe. During the weeknights, they showed a Buster Keaton talkie from the early 1930s that I found fascinating. I hope that the "better programming" on Channel 35 won't be the same-old shuffling from one channel to another of the over used, typical things, that you see on MeTv.

I thank Channel 35 for showing "Dusty's Trail", the western-based remake of "Gilligan's Island" with Bob Denver in the lead roll, along with Forrest Tucker (in the "Skipper" roll), two former "Petticoat Junction" actresses in the "Ginger" and "Maryann"-style rolls, along with a ritzy Mr. and Mrs. Howell-type.

Maybe WBNX can bring back the Happy Channel. :D
Ahahahahahahahahaha

Seriously though, it is plausible that WBNX assumes the MyTV affiliation by default, especially if WOIO 19.2 becomes a full-power SD simulcast of Telemundo WTCL 6.1 (which is the easiest option for Gray and a show of support for their new station).

Not that it means much as MyTV is nothing more than a two-hour rerun block meant for independent stations, which is partially why Gray stuck it in overnights on 19.2 for several years. But for a station like WBNX, it’s filler they’ll appreciate and is compatible with the rest of their lineup… and they can say they’re a “network affiliate” again.

The Wiegel channels carried by full power station subchannels are often also carried on cable. Most LPTVs are not, so moving channels from WOIO/WBNX could cost them viewers. But Wiegel may be paying for clearance, so it still could be to their advantage to move them. Or they may introduce new channels. Can never have enough Tee Vee!

What is the coverage area for 35? I am in south Parma, a short distance from their tower, and reception drops out at times.

I think we're jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly. While I would like to watch MeTV somewhere else other than on over-compressed WOIO, I don't think that Weigel is going to move all their diginets over to W27EA-D. Remember, W27EA-D is a Class A low power station, so it would make sense not to move their networks from the full power stations and reduce their over-the-air coverage. If Weigel had acquired a full power station, then my guess would be that most of their networks would eventually move there. Should WOIO drop MeTV or WBNX drop one or some of their diginets, then I can see them moving over to W27EA-D, at least for the time being until a new full power affiliate is found.

Right now, I can see Weigel placing MeTV+ on W27EA-D, and I can predict that the upcoming Story Television will end up there as well. However, per the other stations that Weigel owns, some of them carry diginets from other broadcasters, so perhaps Retro TV will stick around, hopefully being upgraded to an actual digital presentation, though I don't know if the local content will be retained. If Retro does get dropped, I don't see anyone else picking them up, but another low power station. Most broadcasters aren't even interested in them.

I'm actually happy that Weigel bought W27EA-D. They can bring out the full potential of this station and change it from the dumpster fire that it currently is. However, once they take over, I'm afraid that the on air change will not be instant. They still have to buy a lot (and I mean a lot) of up-to-date equipment, stuff that needs to replace the roughly 40 year old analog technology that Media-Com has been using for so long.

I'm about 18 miles SE of their transmitter, and their reception is so strong that it's like I'm receiving a full power broadcast. However, I've noticed that since they were repacked to RF 27, the signal has been very sensitive to interfering stations during tropo events, though not enough to cause dropouts.

Somebody told me Izzy might be doing parttime on WHBC Canton. Not sure doing what (talk or sports), or even if that’s true.

Have they found another host for the Thursday evening sports talk show on channel 35 or is Phil Ferguson still filling in, or should I say "Philling" in?

Med-Com., Inc. just sold Channel 35 LPTV a few days ago.
I believe Phil filled in a few times. Have heard rumors Steve French might retire soon. Just rumors.
