Jim Kerr better watch out!!

If Clear Channel picks up Howard Stern, it might be the kiss of death for Kerr. Think about it? Where could they put him? He's way too edgy for Lite FM. They're not going to put him on a dance station ala 103.5 KTU. He's way too old for Z100 and even if he wasn't they can't put him on Z100 because Elvis Duran and the Z Morning Zoo is probably the signature morning show for Clear Channel, a popular powerhouse. That leaves Q104 as the only fit for Howard Stern, a classic rock station that fits Howard Sterns audience demographic. Very likely that if Stern and Clear Channel strike a deal, it'll be curtains for the Jim Kerr radio show with Mr. Kerr joining Valerie Smaldone in retirement.

You forgot Power 105. Howard Stern could gell with a station like that. People forget that one of his favorite affiliates was a hip-hop station in Providence.

I really must doubt that Howard Stern would surface on any terrestrial radio station. He would not want to be in a situation where he could not use profane language.

Well, that's the first time "Jim Kerr" and "edgy" have been used in the same sentence ;)

If Stern were to come to Q-104.3 which I doubt, management should move Jim Kerr to another time slot since he is so valuable to the station. Stern's presence on Q-104.3 could drive some of their morning listeners to WCBS-FM. When Stern was at 92.3 FM, most of his listeners did not return to the station later in the day.

Actually, now that I think about it, Kerr has a knack for drawing female listeners. So it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility that Kerr could end up at Lite-FM, doing a retooled morning show. And besides, has anyone noticed exactly how "edgy" the Lite-FM playlist has become? "More Than A Feeling"? Hello? McFly?

WWKX Hot 106 Providence, RI

According to the person wrote the article on wikipedia WWKX had "high ratings in the 18-34 demographic from 1995-1997". WWKX started to broadcast the Stern show in 1997. So basically the stations ratings declined after they brought in Howard Stern?
