Jim is one of the nicest guys in Cincinnati Radio . He is what he is!
That being said and I mean every word of it ... Jim has got to know
in his Heart of hearts ; " his time has come and gone" . It sad when
you can't just walk away from a career that YOU have loved so much and leave with dignity. Know when to leave with class.. Like
Johnny Carson. Say goodbye,and thats it. Radio broadcasting is
a cruel mistress. Again----know when to leave.

Jim has got to be about 66 years old now ! His style of radio is not
in this Market anymore. Sad but true ! "Love somebody today " just
does not cut it anymore ! Jim is an origional radio guy. Sounds more
like Cleveland & New York than the Queen City. He had his run here
for many years. Sad that "Jim" does not know its time.... His MOR
style of announcing "personality radio" is a thing of the past. Its
not hip, its not relevant to todays "mindless society" of people
and their Ipods, PC, Cell Phones, and related junk they carry around with them. "Jim has outlived his stich"..... "Love somebody today"
reminds me of Karen Carpenter music....its so in the past ! I know
people don't want to hear this ! I am NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN to
the Music Professor. Know when to say when as in --- its over
for this style of Radio Broadcasting. WARM 98 might be a fit ; but
I doubt they would want a "Name Person" to over shadow their
music. Jim playing Country was pretty much a joke.

Fish, don't read any more into the following than what is here, because I don't disagree with most of what you said.  But if anyone has read your recent posts, it's pretty clear that you have been around radio for more than a little while yourself.  I don't know if you are still in the business.  I wonder if you think that all jocks reach a time when they should "leave with dignity"-- not just those who are fired.  Is it age, style, or something else?

I'd be curious to hear what others think as well.  Are there on-air people who should get a clue and leave the business at a certain point, and if so what is that point?  I'd always heard that people weren't really "in radio" until they've been fired at least once, so being fired can't be the determining factor.  What is?

I think that's the problem more than the Professor. Radio has created the plug and play jock.

Fire no name no talent me and hire another no name no talent someone else.

Jim's got two huge problems. The first is he put down roots in Cincy and looks like he really doesn't want to leave. I can understand why. Although I don't live there, it's a great area.

Second, with consolidation and automation (ok voice tracking, but it's really just automation) the chance to go across the street becomes very diminished if not impossible.

Maybe Jim will have to hang up the headphones due to the times. But I don't think time passed him by.

I did not read anything into your comment. Its just my opinion about
Jim La.... I have been fired from ( 4 ) radio stations in the past ; all
in my 20's. Thats the nature of the business ! You find that out
after being in the business for sometime. We all move on and maybe
become a better person for it . LOL
At one time; I think I owned stock in U-haul !
