It's a shame, but OTOH, 57 years on the radio ain't a bad run...

This makes me wonder if some kind of stunting will occur over the weekend before Coast takes over ...

Unfortunately the air check doesn't work.

> Unfortunately the air check doesn't work.

It certainly does work. I'm listening to it right now. I also see that nearly 100 other visitors have listened to it successfully today.

Do you think that posting your message on this site, which has nothing to do with the Bay Area Radio Museum, would get it fixed if there actually was a problem?

Jim's last day has been changed...KABL's last day on the air is now Tuesday, July 26th...Apprently, the new company doesn't want to wait to take over...

Gee, DM ... I just got the same information. Were you in the room, or do we have the same source? : )

No I just want to know if it's my computer, or firewall, or is everyone else having the same problem, so we can listen to it. What does it have to do with the museum?

> What does it have to do with the museum?

Aside from the fact that the aircheck is on the Bay Area Radio Museum website, and that the exhibit is being presented by the Bay Area Radio Museum, and that Radio-Info.com has nothing to do with the Bay Area Radio Museum, absolutely nothing.

Again, if you are having problems listening to the aircheck, why are you posting it here rather than contacting the museum for help?

Were the new owners building new studios and offices? Sounds like the job is done and ready to go. Good luck and best wishes to a true radio professional!
Jim will be missed on the bay area radio dial.

But what is going to happen to the Salinas station?

It appears that 92.1 (whatever the new call letters will be) is going to operate out of KKIQ's studios next to Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, at least for the time being.

As for Salinas, who knows?

Re: Jim Lange's Final Broadcast Goodbye to Jim

Alright! From Historical San Francisco to...a mall. Nice.

At any rate, Let's not forget Carter B Smith as well...A true legend in his own right. And Mr Dino Donikian, who was born 'mature' as they say...

57 years of classy radio ends this Tuesday...Hopefully, someone will come to their senses around SF and start it up again...Although I'm sure CC will hold on to the call letters just because that's what they do...

Carter B. Smith is a class act. Hopfully these Bay Area legends will return really soon! Doesn't Carter voicetrack?

CC's call letter hoarding

> Although I'm sure CC will hold on to the call
> letters just because that's what they do...

Very true. They moved the KKDJ call letters to Bakersfield (Delano, actually) in 1998 after they had been on an AOR in Fresno for more than 20 years (KKDJ was on what is now KIIS-FM in Los Angeles from 1971 to 1975, then were picked up in Fresno shortly after that), but not long after the calls were in Bako, they stopped mentioning them anywhere but the legal I.D.

Now the station is Spanish language but the KKDJ calls are still sitting there, wasted.

Hey all I care is that I was interested in listening to it. Who said Radio-info is responsible? I discovered it by a link from a post on here. Does that bother you or something? What's the big deal? I'll find out the problem myself when I make time for it. I usually do. Now just go back to Bed. What the hell do you want from me?

What I (the moderator) would like is for both of you to get civil.

Thank you.

Uncivil? I Take Umbrage At That!

I *was* being as civil as humanly possible, KM. I'm helping to run the Bay Area Radio Museum website, and if there was a problem he could have contacted us through the museum website for assistance.

That's like complaining to Google because you can't get a page on MSN to come up. I wasn't being uncivil (snarky, maybe ... but not uncivil), I just didn't understand complaining on this website about a problem on an unrelated site.

Now I'm going back to bed. Jeeeez.

While I understand your motivation, IMO you carried it about two posts too far. You turned what should have been a thread about where to hear Jim Lange's last-ever radio show into an argument between two people instead.

Civility sometimes means knowing it is pointless to continue responding.

First of all I was not complaining. I just made a comment. Second , if I would've known or paid attention that you were part of the museum, I would've gladly contact you. I wasn't holding anybody responsible why I couldn't download it. But you seem to second question me like I was on trial for the mis-download of an aircheck. I hope the case is closed.
