Jim Laski on WGN in Afternoons now?

So I hadn't really heard much from this guy until he started taking over afternoons a couple of weeks ago.

Is he the permanent afternoon guy now?

Could WGN have found someone more ill-informed than this guy?

He brings up a stupid question as a topic and the first or second caller will call in with facts and correct him, yet he still continues down a path of using the stupid premise as a topic.

What a dolt. Yet another reason to not listen to 'GN anymore.

Apparently you haven't heard Brian Noonan. He tops this guy. Except for the fact that they have the best sounding Chicago AM signal, there isn't much of a reason to listen to that station anymore, in my opinion.

Laski in only subbing, afternoons. The real bad one is Nick Digilo, the stammering stutterer. HOW did HE get on WGN???

Starting on Monday, Aug 9, the permanent, (at least as permanent as things have been lately at WGN) weekday linup will be:

Greg Jarrett 5-8:30am...He's starting to grow on me
Mike McConnell 8:30am-12:30pm...(Formerly on Cincinnati's WLW) will debut on WGN
John Williams 12:30-3pm...formerly on WGN 9am-1pm
Gary Meier 3-7pm...Never thought I'd like him on WGN, but I really do
Jim Laski 7-10pm...I miss Sports Centeral
Milt Rosenberg 10pm-midnight...That man can do intelligent talk on so many topics. It amazing.
Steve & Johnnie Midnight-5am (Monday 2-5am)...I've always loved them.
Nick Digillio Saturday Midnight-2am, Saturday 8pm-Sunday 2am, Sunday 11pm-Monday 2am...I think he was a mistake when the first hired him as a fill-in, & I still do.

Like this linup, or not, it's pretty diverse.

Greg Jarrett is informative.
John Williams is topic-driven.
Gary Meier is fun for the afternoon drive.
Jim Laski is abrasive & yells a lot.
Milt Rosenberg is intellectual.
Steve & Johnnie are light.
Nick Digillio is superfluous.

I don't know what Mike McConnell will be like on WGN. On WLW, he was less aggressive, & less of a yeller than Bill Cunningham. We shall see.

We shall see.

There is lots of talk on the Cincy board about what Kevin did to wlw. If wgn is headed there, it will be interesting. WLW is the #1 station in the market. Somebody did somethng right - and somebody IS listening.

I'm fed up with the negative people dissing Kevin. Change happens. In order to keep wgn and wlw on top, you can't play old tapes of Wally and dig up Franklyn MacCormack. As a 40+ year listener, I'll give the place a chance.

It's not a bad line-up overall, but there are a few idiots mixed in with the good guys. Milt is amazing; actually I am surprised that he has survived on the station, he is that good! ;) Rick Kogan is also very good. I guess they haven't gotten rid of all of the intelligent people yet!

Wow! Thanks for the information.

I've always liked John Williams. I disagree with him on several things, but I never doubt that he's coming from a position of honesty.

I can't say that about Laski. He's just bizarre. He's married to an opinion (whatever the topic is) and doesn't move, even when presented with facts and data. :( I loathe screaming and yelling on the radio. At least they are putting him on at a time when I usually stop listening to the radio anyway. Kudos for that, 'GN!

This lineup isn't bad. They've bounced JW around a lot until they end up putting him back where he started. *lol*

I love Nick D, btw.... While I agree (COMPLETELY) that he's not much more than a big fluff piece, he and I are the same age and I can relate to most of his pop culture rants. I remember when he started on 'GN, and then hooked up with Garry Lee. Ahh, good times.

If you're talking about Kevin Metheney, he was not at WLW (although his boss, Randy Michaels was). Metheney was at WTAM in Cleveland. IMHO, Metheney is a very gifted programmer who trips over his own ego trying to promote personal political agendae and causing a lot of colatteral damage.
