Jim Olivier passes away

Too bad no replacement since then has even remotely the same passion for the promotion of Cajun culture and French language in Acadiana. Bob Moore? Not even close. Tom Voinche? Better but he's no Jim Olivier.

I remember waking up to watch Jim on Passe Patout when I started learning French just to see if I could understand what he was saying.

The only "old school" French language broadcaster (that I know of) is retired Jim Soileau of formerly KVPI-92.5 Ville Platte who fills in when others are off.

RIP Jim Olivier. God bless your family.

I've heard/read a lot about Jim Olivier being a TV/RADIO personality, does anyone know the radio station(s) he worked with?

He worked at KXKW.

Swallow Records of Ville Platte was his record label and they have a collection of his available on CD.

Jim was also known in some circles nationwide for his research into the assassination of President JFK.

Sorry about the double post.

There are still a handful of Cajun French segments on small stations in Acadiana.

KLFY's Passe Patout still has some Cajun French and their early morning Rosary is still half in English, half Cajun French.
