iHeart regional hosts, like regional newscast readers etc. They have been running "iHeart Podcast Channel" midnight to 6am then three hours of Fox Sports Radio.
ESPN is now without a Boston affiliate after
Audacy moved WEEI 850 to BetQL.Those wanting to hear the World Series can get it at
night via 1520 in Buffalo or the ESPN Radio
or TuneIn/ESPN Radio app.

WEEI AM to the local sports talk on FM..not sure if he's now tuning in to BetQL on 850...

Weei FM isn't carrying the world series? that's nuts. Just because the Red Sox aren't in it. Too bad The sports hub can't pick up ESPN.
Since The Sports Hub is no longer under CBS ownership, you would think they could successfully negotiate with ESPN ot any national sports network to carry what needs to be carried, UNLESS the World Series scheduling conflicts with the Bruins and/or Celtics.
I cannot wait to hear the reason(s) why WEEI-FM, sister to WEEI-AM, former ESPN affiliate, did not pick up the Fall Classic.
Despisers of The Kuhner Man will now have an alternative during AMD.
We are provincial when it comes to sports it seems and WEEI feels talk about local sports or gambling matters more; I don't know if ESPN was (still) paying them to be on 850 but it could be they figure people have options like streaming if they want the play by play and apparently they
are now totally disconnected from ESPN.No other station willing to change to network affiliation or even just carrying the Series.
I don't know if ESPN tried to get someone like WRKO (iHeart) to pick up the Series at least.
So not only is the series not on FM but even the 850 isn't carrying it.A spin down the dial found few stations willing to run it from various cities especially as stations have basketball or hockey commitments.No Sox in Series means no Series.
Despite people bringing up how bad EEI is in the ratings, they must be making some money--and the deal to carry the Sox recently got extended so they will remain sports for quite a while.
Streaming is around. (Also sites like ustv247 dot com has free streaming of TV networks like Fox and TBS who have been running the playoffs)

That could be and if so they could put the Series on a sister station like WBOS if need be, which gets used if there's a Bruins-Celts conflict. Ball games take up a lot of time though so it would be a big interruption of music flow.
The idea of AM stations affiliating with sports networks to offer an alternative to 93.7 and 98.5 seems to have passed.NBCSportsRadio is gone, I guess CBSSportsRadio is running on EEI AM or FM; Fox Sports was on a very small part of 1200 but gone now and nobody seems to want to affiliate with ESPN here.Remember when 890 and 1400 had it? Then 850 took it

I take it the announcement is in hopes to get ears on WXKS-AM? Wasn't the station at a 0.0 in one of the recent books? Kind of like announcing that the show is now being picked up on shortwave...with the best reception 50 miles east of Nantucket. Reminds me of when Howie Carr bragged about how great it was to be on WMEX, only that WMEX had a horrible signal after sunset.
1200 also on 100.7 HD 3...maybe can lure some regional advertisers by boasting they're on in Boston too.
1520 WWKB Buffalo is now also BetQL. 1050 from NYC might be the best option for ESPN on AM at night. That or maybe 1530 Cincinnati.

Sooooo, now that Polito is taking over morning drive on Talk1200, does this mean Talk1200 will stop its incessant promoting of kuhner's show????

Remember that two months ago this station had a 0.0 rating. Last month was 0.1. Virtually no one listens to this station and this change will have little to no affect on increasing listeners. WRKO is a consistent top 10 rated station amongst all listeners. That is where the revenue is so that is why Jeff’s show will continue to be promoted to get the few listeners on Talk 1200 to listen to Jeff. He has an entertaining show. Compare the ratings between the two stations. Where is the money being made?
And maybe putting Polito on 1200 is telling advertisers their spots are being heard in Boston though some signals like the 920 reach some parts of the area, as it is. As for the Premiere national shows, 600 stations or so can add up...Rush was paid $50 million per year for 8 years starting in 2008. Much less money is being made now but somehow iHeart gets money from ad buys on
Beck, Travis & Sexton, Hannity etc even if "nobody is listening" here in Boston...ad money coming in from hundreds of stations
airing these shows. WRKO makes the money here and they aren't going to run the national shows on 680 when they have
local or regional shows like Jeff, Grace and Howie. Thus they land on 1200 ...and 100.7 HD3.,

EXCEPT, the 'few' listeners to Talk1200 listen to that station because they're not the least bit interested in listening to kuhner or the subpar Howie Carr, etc. I can vouch for that.
Advertisers and station owners aren’t interested in a few listeners. Ratings reflect what people want. A station with a 0.0 or 0.1 doesn’t deserve any advertiser or management attention.
