Jim Quinn

Anyone know whether Jim Quinn is on the air anywhere? He went from WPIX-FM in NYC to WKBW-FM in Buffalo in the mid-70's, and also worked in or around Pittsburgh at some point.

You might want to try the "Where are they now" board under the "National" heading on the left side of your screen.

And he's still there.

After hosting a popular political talk show on classic rock WRRK/96.9 (now variety hits "Bob FM"), he moved to Clear Channel's new conservative talk FM outlet, WPGB/104.7 ("FM News/Talk 104.7").

His "War Room" show is heard weekday morning drive on WPGB, and is regionally syndicated to Altoona, Akron and Wheeling.

WKBW-FM in Buffalo - Did I miss something? I have never lived in Buffalo but I have never heard of KB on FM. I think there might have been a WKBW-FM in the 1940's

A typo maybe?

The amazing thing about Jim is his total change of outlook on life. When I knew him he was about as liberal as they come...and a wild and crazy guy to boot. Marriage and a child changed that...drastically. He discovered (re-discovered?) religion and has moved somewhere to the right of Attila The Hun.

I miss the man who famously had his listeners meet at the corner of Walk and Don't Walk.

Maybe the poster was thinking about the 105.7 allocation (or was it later 99.5) that never came to be WKBW-FM. Talk about "what-ifs!"

Money changes everything... especially when some people discover or re-discover religion.

No, I think you're right - it was AM. I've worked in FM radio for so long, it's second nature to tack "-FM" onto every call signal I type. Which is kind of ironic, since most of the time I listen to AM radio when not at work.

My favorite feature was "Stump the Audience" every night at 11.
I failed to turn a lot of homework in on time in junior high school thanks to that bit, and it was the inspiration for "Who Knows What?", a college radio call-in comedy/trivia show I hosted for ten years in the '80s on Long Island.

Ahhh...those were the days...

I remember Quinn ran some sort of "quack quack" sfx everytime he did a time check, and referred to a sidekick by the name of "Fred," which was just a quick tongue-mouth motion sfx... classic.
