Jim Reid, Philadelphia & Lehigh Valley Radio

Hi to all, Just joined this site tonight and would like to introduce myself. I've been in radio for 53 years. Started in 1973 at Muhlenberg College where I did my first show. I was 16 at the time and my job was doing a radio show, while the students went on Easter break. It was here that I learned the ins and outs of radio. From there it was on to WKTC, a cable radio station and was making $2.50 an hour. In 1976, I went to work for WKAP in Allentown and stayed there for about 9 months. On a whim, In that same year, I sent a tape to Bob Hamilton at WIFI-92 in Philadelphia and did weekends and even did a full-time stint from 10 pm to 2 am during the summer of 1977. I left WIFI-92 in July of 1977 because of AFTRA. It was just too expensive to join and I was immediately hired at WAEB, Allentown, where I jocked from 1977 to 1993. With a format change, I went to Oldies 99.9 in Easton for 2 years and then left when they, too changed format to The Hawk. From Oldies 99.9 it was on to Penns Peak Radio, where I did a Tuesday Night Oldies show for almost 4 years. Penns Peak Radio closed its doors and went off the air and I immediately went to Colossal Radio, another internet radio station, which is 6 miles from home in Lehighton, PA. I'm still playing the Oldies until June, when they too will be changing format. It's been a fun 53+ years.

Howdy and welcome to the board. Congratulations on being in radio all these years, that's some resume.
