Jim Rome and Rich Eisen were "traded".

Rome has seemed more interested in pimping his X streaming simulcast of the show. There hasn’t even been a Smackoff this year!
 
One detail left out of the announcement is if Rome will take Eisen's place in the Westwood One football broadcasts.

I also wonder if this will help get Rome's show cleared in LA.

Rome hasn’t been cleared in LA for years, I don’t think it’s that important to him or Infinity Sports Network.

Rome hasn't been carried on the BetQL network.

Most of the BetQL stations were former affiliates of the CBS Sports Radio network, and continued clearing Rome during his time slot. Probably a contractual deal with Rome, or possibly Audacy saw Rome as a way to draw his fans to BetQL.

There are BetQL stations weren't previously CBS Sports Radio outlets that carried alternate programming during the Rome time slot if Rome was on a competing station in the market via Infinity Sports Network affiliation.

Depends on how you look at it. Looking at the BetQL overall schedule, it appears they don’t have any of their own programming noon-3pm ET, so those stations carry Rome.

Here in Houston BetQL is carried on a former CBS SportsRadio affiliate with Rome in middays. What is run on other BetQL affiliates in that time slot in markets where Rome is on another station?

I remember specifically that KAMP (AM) in Denver didn't get to carry Rome when it flipped to BetQL. The previous format there was adult standards or something like that, not sports, and another company (not Audacy) had the CBS Sports Radio affiliation for the Denver market. I have no idea what KAMP aired instead of Rome.

There were others, but I don't recall what they were. Mostly stations, like KAMP, that were airing something other than CBS Sports Radio when BetQL launched.

Cumulus had quite a few CBS Sports Radio affiliates at one time. IIRC, Cumulus had dibs on the network in markets where CBS Radio had no presence.

1660 KWOD in KC is affiliated with BetQL and Infinity Sports Radio, but Rome runs on KCTE 1510/94.5. In his future timeslot, they run ESPN Sports Radio. I don't know if they're going to add Eisen's show or not, I don't think he's ever had an affiliate here but I'm not sure.

During Rome's current timeslot, KWOD's schedule says they run a show called "BetMGM The Daily Tip". In his future timeslot, they run "You Better You Bet". I've never listened to either one.

His video simulcast has turned into a 24/7 FAST channel on multiple services like DirecTV, Sling, Prime Video, etc.

I never understood why radio stations converted their struggling sports talk stations in to sports betting talk, unless they were betting (no pun intended) on more brokered shows running on the stations.

"Hey, how can we make our also-ran sports stations even more boring?"
 
As a West Coast listener, this move really confuses me. The only plausible reason I can think of is Jim is targeting the drive time audience on the East Coast. His listeners on the West Coast, where most of his fanbase is, will probably drop off due to the time change. 12-3 is quite different than 9-noon. I think most of us in California are much more likely to be listening to the radio in the earlier time slot. We're also much more likely to be driving in our car.

If someone disagrees, please leave a response. Because the move has confused quite a few of my friends as well.

Maybe he/Westwood One are more focused on the Twitter/X and online side of it versus the radio side. There's also a podcast of the Jungle and Romey does his own interview podcast separate from the main show.

I don't know if he makes more or less money. But his show is no longer charged to Infinity, and is instead charged to Westwood One. There, it'll be a free standing show where stations can carry it alone, rather than as part of the network. They may even be able to schedule it outside of the feed time.

To follow up, does that mean the station that he is currently on (1050 KTCT) might no longer carry him, due to contractual reasons, or would that be unaffected?

It's an interesting question. KTCT is owned by Cumulus that owns Westwood One, but Westwood One distributes Infinity Sports Net. So I don't know.

Doesn't KTCT run ESPN Radio?
