It's an interesting question. KTCT is owned by Cumulus that owns Westwood One, but Westwood One distributes Infinity Sports Net. So I don't know.

So that may be the answer. Does anyone carry Rich Eisen? My guess is they will now carry Jim Rome. Or perhaps that's part of the plan for 560 that hasn't been announced. Or perhaps he will just float until his contract runs out. The Eisen affiliate list (that Rome inherits) looks pretty weak to me.

As a West Coast listener, this move really confuses me. The only plausible reason I can think of is Jim is targeting the drive time audience on the East Coast. His listeners on the West Coast, where most of his fanbase is, will probably drop off due to the time change. 12-3 is quite different than 9-noon. I think most of us in California are much more likely to be listening to the radio in the earlier time slot. We're also much more likely to be driving in our car.

If someone disagrees, please leave a response. Because the move has confused quite a few of my friends as well.

I don't disagree. That is exactly what Rome wanted to do when he made his announcement. That said he will compete with Roggin and Rodney on am 570 and Mason and Ireland on ESPN 710. So if Rome was to have an LA affiliate he won't stand a chance.

The Rich Eisen Show doesn't have any affiliates in the Bay Area. In fact, I don't think he has any in So Cal either.

Ever since moving from Clear Channel/Premiere to CBS/Infinity Sports 12 years ago, Rome's affiliate roster was downgraded dramatically (a weak affiliate list was why NBC Sports Radio failed). Eisen doesn't have a strong station list either, but he relies on his Roku TV simulcast to bolster his status.

Because stations can't carry just his show. They have to carry the network. From what I can see, this move releases him from that situation. So now stations have the option to just carry him, which was the case when he was at Premiere.

I thought there were a few stations which primarily carried ESPN Radio or Fox Sports Radio that also carried Rome. The Rome station here mainly carries VSiN or BetQL programming in so-called "peak listening" time slots, but does carry Bart Winkler and Amy Lawrence from Infinity Sports.

The station which airs Eisen (a different station than the one I mentioned above) also airs VSiN programming (YES, there are TWO VSiN affiliates in Phoenix, which is one too many). This station inherited VSiN when SportsMap went out of business.

I'm not aware of that, but they may have been grandfathered when he moved to CBS. Seems to me all three sports networks require their affiliates to carry a full spotload (as opposed to requiring them to carry all shows). But each affiliate makes its own deal individually.

Rome is doing some serious stretching to claim his show can be heard in big markets, for example his New York City "affiliate" being a station in Newburgh and Denver affiliate being an Aspen station.
