Jim Rome To WRSO

The Big 810 is listed as a new Rome Show affiliate...perhaps WRSO is picking up more CBS Sportsd Radio shows.

So is WSJZ Sebastian/Melbourne.

Just thinking about this one...who else would want/take Rome in Orlando?

740 - no, he just left there

1080 - no, they didn't want the ESPN brand anymore and have local programming now

580 - all ESPN, so the answer would appear to be no

Who is left?

I wish them luck considering all that has been posted so far

For the record, Rome's radio show was not distributed by ESPN. True, years ago, ESPN Radio flagships in New York and Chicago had aired it for awhile, but it's been a Premiere/Clear Channel property up until this year.

Re: No more Yahoo?

WRSO is now a CBS Sports affiliate. Guess Yahoo Sports didn't work out. We still have four different sports stations here though. Who's flipping next?

You are correct, but what I meant was that 1080 just gave up ESPN - the biggest name in the game - due to cost. They then developed a local lineup, so why bother with another national guy that may cost money/barter? If they wanted national, ESPN was the answer and they got rid of that.

Good question. Here is another good question - do you think the switch was made mostly to get Rome? That is a big name and Yahoo doesn't really have anybody like that. ??? ??? ??? ???

Even better question then mine. The only thing I could think of is perhaps the WRSO people were just using Yahoo sports (hopefully without a contract) as a place holder till CBS came on. Also it's nice to also be able to hear Scott Ferrall on at night again. I listened to him on Sirius.

Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney & Dana Jacobson (TBD) 6A-7A
The Doc Show on Sports 7A-10A
John Feinstein 10a-12N
Jim Rome 12N-3P
Comas & Kyle 3P-6P
Chris Moore & Brian Jones 6P-10P
Farrell on the Bench 10P-2A

I think Jim Rome is actually now part of CBS Sports Radio. So the move might've been mandated from on high, as opposed to being dictated by WHOO's willingness/ability to carry it. He's listed on CBS Sports Radio's website as part of their national lineup. They may still syndicate to markets where they don't have CBS Sports Radio affiliates, though.

More generally about WRSO, I find myself listening more to Comas and Kyle lately at 3pm (which is when I get off work, so it's when I would be listening).

Rome is now on CBS. They left him on affiliates that had ratings and weren't owned by Clear Channel, such as WKNR in Cleveland and WGR in Buffalo.

In Tampa, they took him from 620 and this week added him to 98.7 the Fan.
