Jim Steele

WKBX FM, (KBAY 106)Kingsland owner and Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Treasurer and Board members passed away this evening.

I met Jim about ten years ago at his radio station. He was a fine gentleman and superb broadcaster. There were three of us visiting him that day; two of us were from Augusta GA, the third was all the way from North Hollywood CA. Jim gave us a tour of his fine operation, took us to lunch at the local country club, and then to his home, where he had his impressive microphone collection on display.

I don't know if everyone realizes this ... but Jim established and maintained that phenomenal website known as "Vintage Broadcast Microphones," which is encyclopedic in scope.

Rest in peace, Jim ... with sincere wishes for comfort to your family during this time.
