>I was a young punk rocker back in the day, primarily lashing out at NY radio for ignoring the stars coming out of the NY underground scene that I was part of, The Ramones,The NY Dolls, etc,and radio ignored it all in favor of KC & the Sunshine Band and Disco Tex & the Sex O Lettes; I ALSO introduced the Sam Goody's chain(where I was mangement right out of school, mid 70s) to the marketing of 12 inch dance singles from their inception, did interviews and features with dance artists for the Island Ear in the early 80s, ran Super Stuff Records in Nassau County in the 80s, the premier establishment for 12 inch dance records, opened the Record Connection in Suffolk County in 87 as a 12" inch dance specialty store, where I continued my status as a Billboard Dance/12 inch Reporting store, allied myself with "Hot 103" when they appeared on the airwaves in the mid 80s,served as a mentor of sorts for many passing through the doors there(including a young Vic the Latino) and then involved myself with Strong Island Records, first as an advisor and, in more recent times, returning to the role of recording artist(while serving an 8 year tenure as resident DJ of The Bunkhouse, a then legendary Long Island gay dance citadel)."The Anthem","For DJs Only","Loud Enough","Sorry, No Requests",and now "Last Call" and the Nov.1st release of "Dance Floor".....
Go Figure! Anyone expecting me to be in the same place I was many years ago?sorry to disappoint!(AND I STILL can't handle KC & the Sunshine Band or Disco Tex & the Sex O Lettes, what can I tell ya?,although the bulk of late 70s,early 80s dance is more than fabulous as far as I'm concerned...
