Jimmy Baron becomes new morning host at Dave FM

Good for Jimmy. It's about time he was back on the air, and he should fit in fine at Dave. It gives them someone who still has equity in Atlanta radio.

I only wish they'd moved Orff back to late nights. I'll miss not hearing him at all.
 
Tim has changed his work info. and his job on his Facebook page already. His profile is still up at DAVE's website.

Congrats to Jimmy. It is long overdue. Any news about Calandro being his producer?

The rumor is that Calandro is running around town looking for a nice-looking kilt to wear on the first day.
 
It would be my assumption that Calandro will not be involved. There was major bad blood with him and other Dave FM staffers the last time he was there. I hope this move works for Dave, otherwise it will continue to be a useless station until Mara comes on.

Is Jimmy running the show solo? Or will he have another warm body with him (like Yvonne Monet)?
 
One can hope that he's being paired with someone to balance his rambling...I'm not a huge fan of his but like the previous suggestion of Yvonne Monet. She's proven herself in ATL as being solid, smart and funny. When does he start?
 
Good going. He needs a job. They need a morning show. No slamdunks here though. 99x was a successful machine at the time and he benefited from that as well as contributed to it. Dave is still finding itself and it's peak will never be like it was in the old days. I hope he knows that.
 
Does anyone really care? You have heard his stuff over and over and over again. There will be nothing new on Monday. He is a safe choice who knows how to push the buttons that start the commercials. I give him 9 to 12 months. Then somebody else who wants to make a safe choice will pick him up and we will be having this conversation all over again.

An A personality who knows the Atlanta Music scene past and present.

How about applicants post an audition tape on Youtube and let the viewers vote.

Always the ray of sunshine. Jealousy gets you nowhere. Congrats to Jimmy. Wow him and Mike Vick Have gone for almost the same amount of time now both are hired on the same day.

I heard that Norm is representing Vick now too and this was a 3-way deal. Dave-FM gets Jimmy, the Eagles got Vick and Atlanta will also get a rapper to be named "Later".

Glad to hear jimmy's back. I agree....Dave is a good spot for him..he's going to be good for Dave. I've never really understood this semi-recent trend of morning shows ending at 9am but if it works..good. Hopefully it will be a good blend of talk and music....balanced, that is.

Jimmy and Y-Von pair well together. They ought to do better than the last couple of folks in that gig at a minimum.

It is a matter of time before Leslie and Co. return to ATL to join Jimmy there, Leslie takes over PD and Morning Show co-host duties again and forever reminds us every morning about how much money they used to make at 99X and hourly updates of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt....
