Here is a snippet from Jimmy's blog last night:

This is from Jimmy Baron's MySpace Blog...

LOOK OUT

So I have been asked to fill in the entire week of July 3-7 for
Kim Peterson on WGST! I think it's obvious I'm a perfect fit for his audience don't you?
Your thoughts???????

The rest can be found at http://blog.myspace.com/jimmybaron

It'll be interesting to see if Jimmy attracts a liberal left-leaning audience, vs. the normal Kimmer-conservative right wing listener (of which I am one).

I have met and spoken to Jimmy, and he's a personable guy - he'll probably do pretty well either way......but we'll see if the normal Kimmer listeners snub him, or if they'll call to challenge him.

Jimmy is regarded as one of the more decent guys in Atlanta radio if you talk to anyone whose ever met him. There's no question about it.
With this GST stunt it's hard to believe they'd put him on with the expectation that he'd mesh nicely with Kimmer's audience. It's obvious they're trying to shake things up. There's no doubt Kimmer's hardcore listeners will hate him but guess what? There are only a smattering of them. That's why his ratings suck. What would be hysterical would be to hear Jimmy poke fun at what normally goes on during that daypart on that station. It's certainly ripe for it with Kimmer's puking vocalizations, his constant laughing at absolutely nothing, callers with single digit IQ's, etc.

Yeah, but Jimmy poking fun on a show he's subbing for to point out how bad it is would be bad form on his part, and that's just not Jimmy. It's also not radio courtesy, either. When Jimmy was on 99X, would he like someone to sub for him to the likes of "I'm better than your regular host. That's why I'm here"? On the other hand, if it's good, clean fun, then I would expect it. One of my favorite parts of the time he subbed for Krok is when he was plugging Clark Howard's show and proceded to imitate him, like "if you went grocery shopping with Clark, this is what you'd get". Too funny! Fred Toucher made fun of Jimmy all of the time even before he was on mornings. It was clean jesting and actually promoted the show, not put it down. I would definately expect Jimmy to be having good, clean fun, not trying to be insulting like most talk jocks are trying to be these days; and that's precisely what sets Jimmy apart.

He's going on GST? Why doesn't he just join the Federal Witness Protection program instead?

Like being on GST, no one will be able to find him, and he'll get three meals a day, plus housing, from the Feds.
