JIMMY BARON PULLS IN WARREN SAVAGE FOR AN IN-STUDIO

Gotta hand it to Jimmy, he's not taking this "fill-in" lightly. Pretty impressive guest list this week. Salman Rushdie, George Stephanopoulos, one of the stars from The Office, and I heard him promote that tomorrow he has former Channel 2 anchor Warren Savage in studio. That sounds like a pretty good "get" I would imagine. Forget Obama and McCain, sounds like Jimmy is the one campaigning for something.

Salan Rushdie, Warren Savage, George Steph, Big whoop. He will prove hios worth to me with one of two interviews this week. Either Steve Barnes or for what I believe would be the first ever sitdown with a live mic, Jordan Graye andKim McCarthy. Let's settle their rivalry now so Atlanta can have a more peaceful 2nd half of 2008. I am sick of all their bloods and crips arguing.

Atlanta has certainly had its share of unrest in its short history. General Sherman tried to burn it to the ground during the “War of Yankee Aggression” but we persevered. The carpetbaggers came in and tried to make us all Republicans, that hurt worse then Sherman, yet in the end we accepted it. In the 1960’s Dr. King tried to make us see black folk as equals. We had riots in the streets when he was killed. In the end we saw he was right and we are better for it. All of that pales in comparison to the Graye/McCarthy feud that has shaken this city to its granite foundation. I think we are in for a long fight, possible 100 years. It won’t end even if Bob Neil addresses all of Atlanta in front of a banner that says “Mission Accomplished.”

Perhaps Jimmy can score a coup for Friday and get Former President Jimmy Carter to negotiate a peace. ;D Hey Jordan and Kate, "Can't we all just get along?!?" ;)

James and Y-von have sounded good all week. I caught the Stephanopolous interview, and while good, it had rather more Jimmy than necesary. In the words of Dr. Johnny Fever, "More music, less Nessman". A third more George and a third less Baron would have turned a good interview into a great interview. I attributed this to Jimmy's being a little rusty, coupled with an estrogen dominated household where he might not have a chance to get a word in edgwise and thus has to get them all said during the on air gig.
Since the owners of 92.9 had the option to put Jimmy and Yvonne on when they chose to hire the current crew, I don't see a change in the near future. If the price was right and the platform right, however, I think J and Y could compete very successfully with the crew 92.9 hired.

I enjoyed the Warren Savage interview, as well as Mr. Lukovitch before that.

The last caller of the show made me LOL:

Quote:

Caller: Are you the guy from Corpus Christi?
Jimmy: No, that was the other guy. He was the plantiff, I was the defendant

Jimmy does this in every interview! It takes him two minutes to roll out a question, then he wraps it up so that the interviewee is often forced to respond either "yes" or "no." Some light banter ensues, then Jimmy launches into another James Joycean exploration that eats up even more of the clock. Very painful to listen to.

I thought the interviews today were extrodinairy in that you had people at the top (Mike Lukovich), seeking redemption (Warren Savage) and the bottom (Chrissy Colandro). How can a guy get fired from a fill-in gig after two days? Then again, many of us who know Colandro expect it. Dude, in all seriousness, get help. You are not well.

I heard the segment and I think JB said Calandro was asked to not come back by the PD, but added that he thought the PD was not out of line, under the circumstance.

Calandro: So, can I have a job here?
The PD: No, because I can't find anyone in Atlanta radio who can say one positive thing about you.

Believe it, or not.

;D

I know this is sure to bring debate but, at the end of the day, I've always thought Calandro was great radio. He's Frank Burns, George Costanza and Dwight Shrute all rolled into one....the consummate foil. He plays a definite entertaining role with all his foibles and opinions and personality issues. He was a great punching bag on the RG's, The AMX, and even the short-lived Toucher and Jimmy thing. He took it like a man, and when he didn't it was even funnier. Just my 2 centavos.

He is a personal and professional train wreck. He's Danny Boneduce without the raspy voice. He's Corey Haim without the muscles. He's Britney Spears without the kids.

What did he do in two days not to be asked back to a fill-in gig answering phones? Knowing Chrissey, it could be anything from making tea to wearing a kilt to insulting interns to pooping in the hall to ...

I remember those classic Neil-Chrissy postings. This has really opened up old wounds. Now I am definitely feeling like an old-timer on this board. It was actually Crissy running his mouth on the radio is how I found this board or so many years ago.

Chris Calandro is Neil Millman's illegitimate son?
They're actually brothers from other mothers?
Chris Calandro stole a radio gig from Neil Millman?
One of them is a scorned lover of the other?
Chris Calandro dated Neil Millman's daughter (or son?) and broke her heart?
Neil Millman = Chris Calandro?

How does Neil Millman and Chris Calandro's tiff affect Q100?

Colandro-Millman is the original Graye-McCarthy feud of today.

Colandro was on air via phomne today ith Jimmy. I now understand some of the roots of their feud when Crissy termed himself a Neo-con? What a loser. Does anyone really label themselves that?

Also when does the Zakk, Jimmy and Jane in the Morning Show start?
