Jimmy Barron does mornings week of 7/7 on 92.9 Dave FM

Got this message in my Facebook inbox:

Subject: 5 Days of Jimmy

Just wanted to let you know that, after a 2 year absence from the Atlanta airwaves, I will be returning - albeit temporarily - this next week (7/7-7/11). Catch me every morning from 5-9AM on 92.9 Dave-FM (www.929davefm.com) where I'll be filling in for their morning show. If you feel like it, I'd love to hear from you while I'm on so feel free to call in. 404-741-0929.

Thanks,
JB

I found out that when I comment on Dave FM, I get an earful from one of their staff. No names, and YOU are a radio GOD! There, now maybe I can get this comment past the review board! Anyway, I think it might be fun to hear from Jimmy again. OOPS!! Now I've done it!

Good to hear JB is going to be back...albeit, temporarily.

Did anyone else hear another former 99x personality on dave fm this morning?

Judging by the other thread on this subject, I assume said personality was Yvonne Monet.

Correct-a-mundo!!

Sorry to be a tease, folks. It's rare that I post anything that generates ANY kind of "buzz"....this must be what it feels like to be Neil Millman!...if only I had 251 more posts.....

We've had our eye on you since post 730. Can't wait to get you into the club. You wouldn't want to be me, the pay's too small.

Thought about it further. perhaps sully has more to worry about than Zakk. They have money tied up in Zakk. Maybe one of the pairs goes to afternoons if it works out and has a Cindy and ray like show.

Gonna disagree with you there Tibbsie.

DAVE does have money tied up in Zakk but it is morning money, not afternoon money. Rich Sullivan is not a high-priced talent. In addition, he is out in the community and brings in revenue. He brought in the Loafing Leprechaun and Appleby's for DAVE last year. What has Zakk brought in so far, other than the highly lucrative BEEP account.

I don't think Infinity is gonna want to add Jimmy's salary, probably over $100,000 to Zakk's and Mara's. While letting a revenue generator go or moving him to nights.

You're right, Rich Sullivan is WAY underpaid for Pm drive in market, what are we now, 8. And.... being out in the community and bringing in revenue does not guarantee your job. If they feel Zakk is a dead end, they might want to hold on to the 2 people that still have a little worth in this city; Jimmy and Yvonne. I actually like this pairing. And I think they are a better fit at Dave than Zakk. And these days, most contracts have 90 day outs. So they pay Zakk 3 months salary and say "thank you very much."

Should be interesting to see what happens.

after 20 mins of being on air, Jimmy has kept my attention a lot longer then Zakk.

Welcome back Jimmy!

Rich "Sully" Sullivan is a gem. And probably the hardest working guy in Atlanta radio next to Southside Steve who's a machine. I hope that he gets his due one day. He deserves it.

Haven't really listened to Zakk. So I have no comment there. Except to say I feel for him, or anyone trying to make a go of radio here in Atlanta. Atlanta is one of the most fickle market in the U.S., tough audience.

Been listening to Jimmy, and Yvonne this morning. Very nice to hear them on the air again. Been lots of fun so far!

So Jimmy will be the new morning show host at Dave FM how soon? He does need to let Yvonne talk a little but they are just trying to get their groove down. He has a whole lot pent-up energy I am sure.

All of you predicting Jimmy is taking over for Zakk are ridiculous. Have you never heard of a "fill in" gig? Trust me, he's not taking over the morning slot.

Yes, but its usually by an existing on air personality, not a whole team that doesn't even work at the station (Jimmy, Yvonne & Calandro).

* I stand corrected. I guess Yvonne does now work at Dave.

Granted he is going to take this as an opportunity to use this as audition material but it seems more than fill-in work. Do fill-in usually get more mic time than the regular host, I don't think so but he did. Your morning show usually goes into best of mode with more songs played than normal or at least one host is on air. Or another station emplooyee filling in if they do not do a best of. They do not bring in former atlanta "legends" looking for work and give them more mic time than the regular host. do they? If I am wrong let me know with some other examples of "fill-in" work?
