Jimmy Cannonball Parsons Has Passed Away

Andy Volvo announced today that Jimmy Cannonball Parsons passed away this morning at age 79. The Cannonball was on oldies 1540 WPGR in the 1990's, and before that WMID in Atlantic City and WAAT & WBUD in Trenton. He was on internet station Philly Gold Radio the past few years and was just on Wednesday afternoon and scheduled for today. He was still a Hy Lit-style high-energy top 40 personality talking up the songs and doing appearances, based in Florida in winter and south Jersey in summers. One of the last high-energy personalities from the 60's still on the air.

Jimmy Parsons is a name that’s not going to mean anything to most people but for those of us who loved high energy oldies radio he was among the best. His funny and bombastic personality made him a legend in the Doo Wop and Rhythm and Blues radio world and he will certainly be missed.
