I don't know if they'd have a budget for adding him but WXKS Rush Radio has been doing some sports shows (Lobel and Bell; have carried college and pro sports broadcasts) on weekends. Maybe he could wind up there?

I read the link about Jimmy Myers' departure from WBZ. As I remember it, he was on at 11:00 PM on a Sunday and announced that they had not renewed his contract. He then returned a little while later during a 30 second update, gave a score, and said "oh, and I quit" and walked off. Maybe I'm misremembering it (as a famous pitcher might say) but that's my recollection.

Who can forget the immortal "when you've got the $50K, you've got the $50K".

Thank you for the reference, been away for a few weeks, and when I was flipping car radio Sunday, noticed another program in his time slot.

Question, if he is being asked to so called fund his own program how about Egan and Braude et al??

I think Egan and Braude probably are an easy sell to an ad exec, I doubt very much Jimmy Myers has much of an audience that a TKK ad exec could sell to a client.

This is one of those situations where it would not have mattered on those bridge-burning situations if he was white. He is a very talented talk host who does not fit into the role of the "house black" So far nobody has had the guts to put him on in a major daypart, but if the passion that has gotten him into trouble can be harnessed on-air he'd do very well. I'm not sure the "angry black man" of 20 years ago is what he is as a performer today.

Just don't tell me he would have been replaced by who was it, Dick Lutsk? at WEEI if he had not been white.

I doubt there was one of those situations where it would not have mattered on those bridge-burning situations if he was white. Westinghouse was never comfortable with him, under McGannon they liked to help out the black folk, but as a way of getting them to shut up. The even created a fake job, Area Vice Chairman, to run affirmative action programs and pretend it was a priority.

Isn't that the case with all talented people? Some can overcome their vices, some cannot. Those that can are successful, those that can't are not. This is not something that only applies to Myers.
