Source says email was sent out to all Entercom Buffalo employees.
Edited by BuffaloRG on 08/03/05 04:46 PM.

If so...

OUCH! His former station was mentioned in the AG documents re: payola. There have also been rumors regarding some former "habits". It sure doesn't seem like a problem with the ratings performance of the radio station, unless it chipped away a little too much at Star.

One possibility is that Jimmy has a bigger problem to deal with than programming a radio station.

Maybe management is in severe CYA mode and throwing any bodies tainted by the payola scandal under the bus even if they weren't at the station during the period in question. If that's the case, I'm not sure where you find an untainted, experienced program director out of the CHR ranks,

Or, maybe Jimmy got caught with his hand in one of several cookie jars...

I'll believe it when I hear it from a reputable sourse. Any "shocking" posts on this board by user with 1 post must be taken with a grain of salt.

Fine don't believe me. Source now says that an official memo has been posted on the doors at Entercom Buffalo. They add that the staff and entire cluster are THRILLED as Jimmy Steele was far from a fan favorite.

As for a reason why. Too many to list I am told.

Entercom Fails

Don't look now, but dismissing a newly hired PD and having to replace him is a screaming indictment of Entercom's local upper management, which has failed to properly fill a critically important position at a crucial juncture in a station's development.

Two program directors have been released in the last twelve months under much turmoil. The station is under intense scrutiny locally and nationally, to say nothing of the opinions posted in this forum.

WKSE is a heritage CHR station. It cash flows millions. It's a major component in Entercom's local revenue generating scheme and it impacts the company's overall well-being.

Entercom's corporate management cannot be happy about what's happened at 500 Corporate Parkway over the last 12 months, which begs the question, "Who, if anyone, will be held accountable for the decisions that have been made?"

Is there anybody left to throw under the bus?

And the hits just keep on comin'!

Would Sue O'neill be under that bus?

Or will Sue return to program both stations, along with being OM.

Or a complete management change will happen?

It's unfortunate, but the recent AG Payola situation cuts a large swath through the CHR format. It very well may taint most eligible candidates because of the severe consequences. The allegation is almost worse than the actual criminal act

Thoughts on the next candidate? In the company? In the Market? In 500 Corporate Parkway?
