Jineane Ford Gone

On Thursday, the Arizona Republic wrote a very nice article about Jineane Ford leaving Channel 12 (KPNX) Arizona Midday program. I had no idea about Ms. Ford's history. She worked there for 15 years. She spoke about even though she liked her TV job, how it was hard for her to commute, maintain two households, one in Pinetop/Lakeside, and run businesses up north.

KPNX left the door wide open for her to do occasional guest spots. I wish Jineane the best of luck.

O.K. so the McPublic writes a glowing article about a TV personality who happens to work at their partner in crime KPNX. The problem I have is would any other person on any other network get the same great press, including mentioning the name of her businesses?
 
That was a good article. I didn't realize that Jineane Ford is the owner (or at least involved with) Mama Bear's restaurant in Pinetop. I ate there a few years ago. It was pretty good, and a very popular restaurant.

One of the weird memories I have of Jineane Ford was that she was on the air on 9-11. She was on 12 News Today 5-7am back then, I believe. I remember the morning team doing "happy talk" and having smiles on their faces while the producers were obviously telling them in their earpieces that they were going to switch to the network. I remember her saying something like..."let's go to NBC now. Apparently there's a fire in the World Trade Center." (Obviously they didn't know yet exactly what was going on.)

Just have to be honest...loved that "rack."
 
I'm surprised she lasted this long doing that late morning fluff show. I've read that she was blamed for the morning show's ratings tanking out a couple years back. How actually true was this?
 
Well, given that Tram Mai replaced her a couple of years ago, I guess that someone blamed her for the am ratings "issues"! I assumed that she was placed on the late morning fluff show because a) she was still popular or b) she was still under contract and Gannett didn't want to buy it out.

Ms. Ford worked very hard to get to the position she has at KPNX. She should be judged only on her journalism. Women have come a long way. Just think, less than 100 years ago women couldn't even vote. Now we have a woman as the Speaker of the House, second in line to the President.
