Jingle history- CRC in Dallas

I'm doing some research on PAMS and CRC (Commercial Recording Corporation ) , there's lots of info about Pams , Jams and others on the net, but not CRC. Does anyone know where CRC was located?

The CRC label on their jingle "albums" only shows a P.O. box in Dallas. Might check the old city directories at the downtown Dallas or Richardson libraries for a physical address. They might have been in the building at 1353 Regal Row, in front of the old KMGC 102.9 studios, before Tom Merriman merged everything with Century 21 and officed everything out of Regal Row.

CRC was a favorite of original KVIL owner John Coyle's. All of KVIL's earliest (early 1960s) jingles came from CRC. Some collections of those and old CRC-produced spots will pop up on Ebay sometimes.

Mike,

CRC and TM were separate entities. I also don't recall the original location of CRC, but TM started out on Routh Street in what later became the Quadrangle.

The move to 1341 Regal Row came in the Early 70's. KMGC moved into the warehouse in 1978.

Merriman did not have any ownership interest in TM when it merged into C-21. He has written for them...in fact he'll write for just about anybody, just ask. The TM we all remember from its 1970's heyday was owned by Starr Broadcasting. William F. Buckley was one of the investors in Starr. It was such a cash cow that Starr wisely let it do what it did best, produce great creative product and make money. It was later sold to Shamrock Broadcasting, of which Roy Disney was an investor.

Merriman could be one of the very few folks in Dallas that still knows how to write and arrange for full orchestra. No one does it better.

Although CRC and TM Productions were separate, Tom Merriman and "Jim Long" (real name: Tim Moynahan) were involved in both companies. Not sure who the real owner was of CRC or TM in the early days.

Both CRC and TM started on Routh Street, which became the Quadrangle. Has an 8 track and a mickey mouse studio.

TM went thru several owners. After Starr Broadcasting, it went public under Pat Shaunessy and was more or less owned by employees, friends and relatives. Then a guy named Taylor bought 25% or so as an investment. The place tanked. Tom Merriman put in enough money to keep the door open a while until Century 21 bought it. I was chairman, CEO and 17% owner of Century 21 Programming when we bought out TM Communications in 1990. Renamed the merged company TM Century.

I left in 92 to start Scott Studios.

Thanks for the info guys or girls. My friends owned a theatre at 3104 Maple (The Festival ) showing Spanish movies, and "underground" (read that: "Hippie") movies on Saturday nights. The office upstairs had 50's style acoustics on the walls and an old empty control room on the side. They had a few CRC records there, but of course at the time, we didn't care about them. But in hindsite, I think CRC must have occupied the building at one time, especially when I saw the picture in the Gwinnsound link, thanks to KPLXCOMPLEX. I'm 90% sure that photo was taken on the stage behind the screen. Thanks again.
