JJ&R Replaced in San Diego & Denver

well heres hoping they can get back to being arizonas morning show ;-)

I'm all for them just being AZ's morning show. I get why syndication is their goal but I am not feeling the whole Howard Stern national radio thing. They broadcast from San Diego, Denver, Tucson and Phoenix but don't make any indication of where they are, I find that annoying. They make a point of not saying anything that would allow the listener to locate where they are. I want to hear that they are in AZ and talking about AZ.

Off topic, but does it not seem like they treat Kyle like a second class citizen? I know they ran off the the last female co-host but the tension is in the air with the new one. Johnjay seems to have it out for her. They rarely acknowledge her, rarely invite her to any of the events that they go to. Hell, the show is called "the Johnjay and Rich" show. Johnjay constantly makes remarks like "the last girl we had before you..." which to me indicates that the "girl" is disposable to the show. Also his male chauvinist "bit" is getting tiring.

I don't even listen to them anymore, but the reason the show is called "the Johnjay and Rich" show is because that is what the show was called when they started it in Tucson in 2001 and well before they brought on Carrie Moten (the last girl).

I have to agree with AZ Big Guy and 2son. They were a much better show before they were syndicated. What made them funny, and unique is what got them to syndication. Once there, all that was unique went away and was replaced by canned bits and segments, rushed for time to fit in so many station IDs, breaks, commercials, and of course the music too. Their format was better when it was all talk.

And yes, I agree also it is annoying when they give no indication of where they are broadcasting from as they did before when thery were in solely in AZ. It's just not the same. I used to be a great fan, and listened to their entire show at work. Now, I listen for a few minutes on the drive in to work, and that is all. And even that is hard to do as each time I switch over, it's either music, commercials, or bumpers telling what's supposed to be coming up next. So back to KTAR, and KFYI I go. At work now, all I listen to are podcasts off itunes.

I hope they get back to their roots.

Regards,
AZ Native

Same here. Even though I only listened to JJ&R for about an hour, once they went to their 'new' format which was more music and less talk, I stopped tuning in.

They really would be great on a pop culture/talk station. They really don't need the music on their show but I know the big suits thing otherwise.

sorry to bring up an old thread but l really wanted to say im glad jjr lost 2 cities. hopefully this shows the suits they were more successful in their old format.

I do like the show but like them more as a talk intensive morning show. With so much music thrown in now it disrupts the flow of the show in my opinion. If someone wants music in the morning the have LA over at jamz if they want talk, reality talk radio per say it is Kiss.
