JJ Riley in El Paso

Recently KSII 93.1 in El Paso has picked up a new program director from the Salt Lake City area. His name is JJ Riley and he was formerly on the air in the Salt Lake City area. I was just interested in what station he came from and what format that was. I've heard him on air already and he has a strong voice for radio.

JJ was the assistant program director (and earlier the APD/Music director) of KQMB-FM "Star 102.7," which was an EXCELLENT hot A/C station. He was on-air in the mid-day shift, moved to afternoons (when the PD moved to mornings), mornings, back to afternoons.

Unfortunately, Bonneville felt their flagship AM station needed a simulcast partner on FM and they booted the entire staff on September 2, 2005. The station was doing very well in its demographics, but the market had become saturated with competitors- so after 9 years the plug was pulled.

Well, I'm glad we have him here at KSII now. Apparently he's quite a find. I was surprised to find out that he's so young but has so much experience. It appears Salt Lake City's loss is El Paso's gain... for once.
