JMV Out at WNDE

What gives with this? I know according to reports the biased Arbitron had 1070 beating 1260 in the 3-6p slot for the first time but to concede defeat after just one rating period loss?

Did JMV move on his own or did he "resign" with pressure of Clear Channel?

Two and a quarter sports radio stations in the Indy metro area and not a one of them giving me the WOW factor that stations I have heard in Chicago, St. Louis or even Cincinnati give me when I listen to them.

i Still see WNDE keeping the Afternoon show Local but with Who. I dont See Dog or Gunner dropping being a DJ to start doing full time Talk, Nor if Ace is back do i see him doing. Bill Remicka has to be up at 2:30am to do Fox 59 in the mornings so that puts him out. I dont See Hagin doing 3 to 7 on radio then turn around to do 59 sports inthe evening because that would take him out of being able to be at Pacers Home Games. Joe Gault, Matt Williams, Joe Hatcher and Gary Mac. wouldnt cut it. and one book doesnt mean Merm and Krappy will continue to beat them. i guess thats why XL canned Rakestraw for Schultz because they decided Rakestraw made to much to be #3 on the board.

I posted this on Billy Radio's blog but it contains some questions that could be answered here:

This news actually shocked me as I was reading it here and over at radio-info.com. I was a devoted listener to MPOS and thought John was a quality contributor. After he was named Mark's replacement, I was very happy and have continued to listen daily.

I would like to know what really happened regarding John's parting. Usually if it's planned, there would be an announcement. This was very sudden from a listener's standpoint. I know ratings have been tight with The Fan, but John easily wins head to head against Krap-itz and Eddie (content-wise). The only thing I can see is that 1070 having a more powerful stick would give a small boost.

My best to John and his family. My radio family just shrank by one.

Steven,

Bill never rejected your comment, he just hasn't checked back to see that there were more comments to accept. Due to being inundated with spam comments, we have turned the automatic posting off to control spam, not censor comments.

I have gone in and accepted the comments on Bill's behalf. Our policy has been to allow any and all discussions about JMV's leaving, good or bad. Our Fan Forums have an entire thread devoted to his resignation and we have not censored any posts. You can take a look at the discussion here: http://mywnde.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8341

For the record, we did not let JMV go. He left on own for his own personal reasons. It is not in our place to go in depth into his reasons as that would do a disservice to JMV. He has his reasoning, for us to place words in his mouth as we try to fully explain it, would only end badly. I have heard from others that he has been talking with people via his facebook page http://www.facebook.com/johnmichaelvincent

He also still has access to the WNDE Fan Forums if or when he decides to start posting again.

Thanks,

BS (Brad Shoemaker former JMV Producer, current Web Director at Clear Channel Indy)

John's a quality guy - worked with him for a couple years early on - he was always approachable, always ready to give you his time, even if he was on his shift. Never once did he give you the impression he thought he was all that self important. Just a good guy, and I know the CC folks who've been there with him for a long time all feel the same way about him - the guy you would always want to invite to the cookout, or to be in your fantasy league.

John, I'm sure you have your reasons that no one needs to know, especially on this board. I'll just wish you the best, and let you know that I'm certain those who know you would be more than willing to support you in any way if/when you wanted to get back in the industry. There are many who respect you - and not just fan-atics, but fellow broadcasts who would give you job references in a second. Take care. :)

Hi BS,

Thanks for the update. I didn't know what had happened and I didn't mean to drag it out in public ala Tiger if it was a personal issue. I just thouht it was odd to leave so many irons in the fire.

I also didn't know about the comments. I had the impression that they were going to post immediately. My post didn't and I assumed it wasn't accepted. We all know what happens when you assume.

My post was in the heat of the moment. I had spent several hours of my day 5 days a week for several years and attended many remotes then all of a sudden John was gone. I was shocked and rolled out the "Jump to Conclusions" mat.

Again, thanks for the update, BS. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.

Stephen,

All is well. It took us all by surprise. I know a lot of people who are out there and it never looks good when someone just unexpectedly leaves. So I understand the wanting to point immediately to someone and blaming them. The very first question I asked when my Operations Manager asked me to start removing him from the website was "Did we let him go?" I immediately thought the same thing, we must have done something to force him out. Not because I think we as bad a company as we are being billed as all the time (yes another discussion for another time) but because we are a corporation and a lot of the times the employees rarely make their own unexpected moves, especially when to the outsider (all of us who do not live with JMV) it makes no sense.

Knowing JMV for as long as I have, I understand and get it now. He started at WNDE before he was married, before he had his son, etc. So none of this mattered as much to him then. Now, he is a complete family man. He has never been the type to like to drag things on. We have asked him to stay on, he has made up his mind and refused. We asked him to come on the show and give him a proper goodbye, he has never been one for the long farewell. He would rather do it like he did it. Walk away and leave on his terms.

I get the feeling he will pop back up again and this isn't the last time you've heard of him. I am pretty sure he is continuing to do stuff at the 1-3. So who knows what he has in store for his future, but we wish him the best.

Thanks Stephen for being understanding.

As always you can visit JMV's personal facebook page and post on his wall or send him a personal message, I'm sure he would enjoy it. facebook.com/johnmichaelvincent
