Joan Hamburg

NY POST, Cindy Adams:

"Starting last Thursday, Broadcasting Hall of Fame’s Joan Hamburg, on WOR 35 years, is no longer on that radio’s rodeo. Faster than Superman’s speeding bullet, she’ll announce her new home quickly . . ."

WNYM?

Joan Hamburg to WBBR, WNYC, WNYM, WABC ?

WABC or WBBR should have hired John Gambling.

Come on....this is the way radio works. Everyone who works in it knows that. Add that on top of companies like Clear Channel and Cumulus who can't be trusted to speak the truth, and if you expect anything else, you are fooling yourself!

What the hell has that got to do with anything?? Just speaking the truth which is only truer today because of Clear Channel and Cumulus....scum!

It's just the tone of your reply.

If someone posts an observation like, "It's hot today!"

... they wouldn't necessarily expect a reply like:

"Come on....this is summer. Everyone who lives here knows that. Add that on top of no breeze today, and if you expect anything else, you are fooling yourself!"

Maybe I took it the wrong way. I hope so. :)

The list of radio personalities that have been able to give a goodbye is remarkably short. It sucks, but that's life. I'm guessing the people who wrote those articles don't know that.

I was thinking WNYC-AM too - years ago when WOR let long time host Pegeen Fitzgerald go after her husband Ed died she landed a show on WNYC. Her show (Joan) was the last gasp of the classic lineup of WOR with informational but not confrontational talk shows & would fit with WNYC. RIP to the WOR that brought us Arlene Francis, The Fitzgeralds, Bob & Ray, Jean Shepherd and those dignified 15 minute local newscasts each hour - Lyle Van, John Wyngate, Peter Roberts, etc.!

Apparently Scott Shannon offered to let Joan come on and say goodbye. So did Noam Layden on WABC. Maybe Joan is negotiating with Cumulus? If she's going to end up at WNYM that would probably have happened already. WNYC would be a waste of her advertising talent.
