Joan Rivers Freak Out

Joan Rivers went ballistic on a BBC talk program aired a few days ago between herself and a British black activist who was on to pitch his movie and got into a nuclear war with Rivers over whether or not the term "black" is appropriate and whether Joan Rivers was a racist for saying that she thinks race shouldn't matter.

The fireworks ensued, as BBC's Newshour program reports. Special bonus feature: a follow-up review of the broadcast.

Joan Rivers Reacts Understandably

She had every right to go ballistic. This jerkwad was trying to frame her as a racist by saying "black offends you", then when she shot him down over that one, he changed it to "the use of the term 'black' offends you" (but only after he realized the prior approach wasn't going to work). She never said any such thing or anything to imply that she took that stance, and here's this guy trying to pin her down and portray her as a racist! I'd go ballistic, too!

Post 961 dedicated to no one. I get nothing on 96.1. Never have.
______________

Re: Joan Rivers Reacts Understandably

I have a lot of respect for Joan Rivers, she's a sharp one. Maybe she should have a radio show...

I agree the political correctness that abounds today is downright weird. It's almost like a collective neurosis. You had better worry about what you say before you say it so you don't offend someone.
______________

...the funniest part of this Joan Rivers bit is the BBC calling her "The Queen of American Comedy." Whoever thought that one up should check out Joan's sandwich recipes...
______________

Re: Joan Rivers Reacts Understandably

She had one. It aired on the WOR Radio Network. She got fired for saying the "F" word one too many times. Then a couple years ago when El Rushbo went into rehab Citadel put her on as a local host to replace his replacement on WPRO 630 AM in Providence. That only lasted a couple days because Premire Radio Network cried like a little bitch and told WPRO they needed to carry Rush's replacement.

On that note, Infinity has no problem when Greater Media replaces "The Best of Imus" on 96-9 FM Talk in Boston with a local show. And as far as I know Infinity didn't do anything to Nassau when they aired local programming on a couple of stations in Northern New England even though Imus was actually live.

I'm glad she blew off steam. I wish more people would fight back everytime someone plays the race card. Lots of people have had their reputations tarnished because they were accused of being racist.
