Jocks on Jack

I haven't heard any of the other Jack-FM's... WILL there be jocks on the station after they assemble an airstaff? Or is it completely automated? I went to the dallas jack website and didn't see anything on air talent. Will there be a morning show, traffic reports, ANYTHING besides that annoying liner dude?

BTW, the liners suck especially transitioning between upbeat tracks. I can't stand them. They're so not funny.
Edited by markus79 on 06/07/05 07:45 PM.

Jack FM will have no Jocks. That is the new concept. So I would not look for Jocks at all. It's like an I-POD on FM.

Save KPKX, 98.7 The Peak in Phoenix, which is Emmis' (now Bonneville's) Jack-clone. They have jocks throughout the day.

It also seems like they were dumped in haphazardly. I have heard liners that are phrased as if they are supposed to lead into or come out of commercial breaks, and they run between songs.

And the Canadian Jacks have a jock staff.

In some markets the morning show stayed--in San Diego Jeff and Jer are still doing mornings on the former Star, but not playing any music at all, which is interesting.

I think that the American Jacks in general, and Infinity in particular, aer against the idea of an air staff. As much as we may hate to admit it, jocks could be a turnoff to younger audiences who just want music. Unfortunately, 35 years of muzzling personality, begun by the Drake clones who never heard one of The Real Don Steele's "Fractious Friday" bits, are what's brought this on.

If you want all music, get an Ipod. People listen to the radio for personality, which is why talk will succeed after music on FM is dead.
