So, does anyone think that there are some funny jocks anymore in memphis radio, or how about those young jocks that are going through the things that most of you have already gone through, like corporate BS and what not... (93x, q1075, WEVL...etc)

ya know, it's funny you say that, because i was just thinking about that...

as far as funny jocks go, there are, of course, the classic one's that make you chuckle, like ron olsen, tim and bad dog (of course bev will always be missed), and zeke. but ive gotta tell you, some of the younger jocks in memphis are holding there own, too. crate from 93x, i always make it a point to flip over there in the afternoons to catch him with the traffic beeyoch (sp?). those two are hilarious! especially the things he gets her to do. it's always great to hear them, especially when you're stuck in traffic and about to reach your boiling point. he's also really good at bits. i will admit, my friends and i STILL laugh about the "cool whip" piece. some people can run things like that into the ground and they start to annoy you, but his timing is excellent. or d-lo from q1075, he takes bits in a totally unexpected direction and is great at one liners. he always seems to be in control of a phone call, even if they start out rough. q1075 has always had pretty good night guys and he holds that tradition up nicely.

as far as BS, well, i have two words:

mike fleming hillarious whine and political opinions, jeff weinberger makes me laugh with his total lack of sports knowledge, drake and zeke pretty darn funny period

Re: Jocks/Memphis Mark

It sort-of depends on one's definition of funny.

I always enjoyed "Memphis" Mark. He had an unusual ability to read a card -- even verbatim -- and make it funny. It was all inflection. A great talent (and fun guy, too). And, they fired him. WTF?!

Yet, as Y&E were wrapping up this morning just before 10am, Mark was in the studio. What's up with that?

I always cracked up hearing his voice going up and down like Maynard G. Krebbs yelling "WOR-ERK!!!".... that takes practice to get it just right!!

Sometimes jocks can be funny when they're not actually trying to be. A day or so ago, Bobby O'jay said that he thought that the Imus story was getting such exposure because folks in the media like to say "nappy headed ho's"........it struck me as funny......probably a lot if truth in that.

another case in point: Bad Dog is funny, and is always trying to be funny. Bev was funny, and never tried to be.

Zeke's funny, but it's Drake's comments that are the real humor.

I miss Memphis Mark too....what's he doing now?
