Jody Dean and the Morning Team

As they were signing off this morning before their two week vacation Jody said "We may or may not return in two weeks but rest assured David Henry will still have a job." :D I hope he was just joking :-[

WOW. Hat's off to Jody for such a ballsy statement!! Bet Jody's not too happy about Debi being let go, and who knows what will happen when John Summers gets back from vacation (Sandi Sharp was filling in, last time I listened.) I'd bet Jody's real concerned about Henry and crew disrupting the momentum they've all work hard to establish there...bringing #'s to KLUV that they've never seen in 25 years (well, 27, if you count KLVU.)

So what's a David Henry to do? Fire Jody's team, but keep Jody? At KVIL, does it become the "Gene OR Julie Morning Show"? I'll tell you who to lay off...that irritating, smart-assed voice that creates all that drivel at Jack. Does David Henry need contact info for the Connecticut School of Broadcasting? I'm sure he'll start mining the kiddoes from there to host all the CBS morning drive shows, at a cost-cutting, Stockholder Pleasin' rate of $6 an hour. Oh, and maybe if they'll work a longer shift, the kids can go ahead and voicetrack the rest of the day (and night) while they're at it.

And Carla Marion's departure at KRLD is indeed confirmed...by her. They did let her go.

I came so close to dropping my XM subscription when they merged with Sirius...but now I'm discovering satellite all over again, and realizing that it's a great value if all I'm going to hear on terrestrial radio is voicetracking, no localism, tired playlists and relentless commercial loads. At least I can get some variety and no spots on satellite. Localism's not an issue if I can't get it anywhere else anyway.

I seem to remember one of the trade sites posted a rumor about K-Luv flipping formats. They didn't say to what, and I find it hard to believe. After all, isn't K-Luv still the highest rated station in the CBS cluster, even though it doesn't get the 25-54 numbers it used to? I remember it a little behind KVIL 25-54 but still having better 25-54 numbers than most oldies/classic hits stations.

Yes, KLUV is the highest rated station in DFW, why would they flip formats??

The only possible thing they would do is make it an Oldies Juke Box like Jack-FM.. That is just a thought. Like the above post said, don't look for them to change formats . They may try to run it with out Jocks, or have all voice tracking. They have too much money tied up in 105.3 change formats.

I do recall about a week ago when I was reading about Debi Diaz (R&R I think) the article said more changes are on the way at KLUV??? ???

At Q-105 in Tampa CBS appears to have fired Mason Dixon's entire morning show, but kept Mason.

It's not just the morning show. Q-105 has fired its entire staff outside of Mason according to Radio-Online. One has to worry about the K-Luv staff. Something just doesn't seem right at CBS.

In a major 25% cost cutting move, CBS has announced that KLUV will now be known as KLU.
Why? I haven't got a KLU.

guess Henry will need to get his head from where the sun does not shine if he messes with Jody's Morning Team.
here in Hot-Lanta all we got is Steve & Vicki so I stay on the internet.

Dave Henry is a middle managment putz that lucked his way into a good job. I have a gut feeling most of these managment types at CBS radio are cutting people they've have had an beef with in the recent past...

You know, it's funny..........

People say they didn't "get" the Russ Martin Show, so they didn't like it, although they sure seemed to listen a lot.

Well, I don't "get" the Jody Dean Show, so I never listened, although I tried several times.

But I never came on here bad mouthing Jody for his success, even though I didn't think he was funny and has no talent.

Wonder why that is?

Travis, Jody Dean didnt smack his wife to be and get hauled in to the police station...Jody also had his demons, but he conquered those and has repented for his sins..I havent heard russ do that as of late, have you?

Bang, did Russ personally piss in your Wheaties? You sure have a lot of hate for the man.

Since I don't listen to Jody, I wouldn't know what demons he has had or that he has repented for something or anything. If you never listened to Russ's show, how would you know he hasn't "repented" as you put it? Are you going by what you might have read here on these forums?

One thing a lot of people do not seem to understand. It is called the "Russ Martin Show". The key word being "Show". As in the "Dick Van Dyke Show" or the "Mary Tyler Moore Show". They are characters, they are not real people (Although some may use their real names).

What is your real name anyway? Care to share that with us? Or will you hide behind your anonymity and continue to spew your hate?

Hope you have a great evening. ;)

Travis,

Jody has gone public about his own demons, and how he has dealt with them. Having said that, if Jody did hurt his wife, or anyone else, it would likely make the news. That's what happened with Russ, and the legal issues resulting from those actions are not a part of the "show".

One must remember that their off-air actions and on-air actions are both a representation of their character and their employer. Can you imagine paying Russ to work for you, under the circumstances? He'd make you as an employer look bad, just as he did with CBS.

Simply put, Jody is a professional and Russ is a boy who won't grow up.

Oh...so I guess all is alright NO MATTER what you do as long as you "repent your sins" ??????? Com on give me an EF'n break!!!! Lay off the god crap and lets talk reality.

Guess all Russ needs to do is "repent" and all woud be good? Your funny!

THANK YOU scrtr84! That what ive been trying to get across to the "Fans" for awhile. It isnt schtick or satire, its a very serious situation that any respectable company would want to distance.

Op, A sin is a sin to me, no matter if you're a drunkard, thief or a woman beater. We all know russ is going to have to face the consequences concerning his own sins and eventually repent. Its what you do afterwards thats the key: Redemption of yourself and others. Ive known people in this business who've lived way high on the hog with their money and name recognition, then their pride catches up with them and leads to their eventual downfall. This is one of those situations.

Lastly, for all the fingerpointers and fanboys, let me put this into your brainpans once and for all:  I have very candid opinions and while it may appear that I have an axe to grind, I dont. Ive never worked with or for Russ Martin or any of his lackeys at anytime in my radio or post-radio careers. However, that doesnt prevent me from giving my 2 cents on a product and person that I have serious disagreements concerning their on and off air behavior. Ive also railed on other media parties in this town concerning their behavior over the past few years as well. I know at least a few who've came on here to speak their piece and defended their point(Mark Davis, Jody Dean, Scott Sams), which I gained more respect for them for doing so. If Russ wants to pony up and defend his POV, then he can do so. Until then, we have to go with what we know being reported in the media and by various parties who know or have known the man.
