Jody Dean comment

A couple of days ago, Jody Dean quiped, "Take me NOW, Lord."

I realize it was only a joke when he said this, but as Jody Dean has a background, and probably will have a future in ministry, it was as if he was kind of wondering outloud if these might be the end times.

Meanwhile, I was reading the scriptures last night, and the following seemed to apply in regard to the situation in New Orleans, with so many people being rescued from their rooftops:

"On that day the man who is on the roof of his house must not go down into the house to get his belongings..." (Luke 17: 31)

That section of the chapter is called, "The Coming of the Kingdom."

I don't think the New Orleans situation was what Jesus had in mind when he said this, but it certainly impressed me as quite a "coincidence."

I've talked about religion on the radio, as well, and with all the natural disasters we've been seeing, it really does make me wonder if these are "the signs of the times."

Hey, spy...

A preacher friend of mine in Tennessee named Chris Smith uses that phrase humorously...usually involving stories in which Chris gets egg on his face.

I liked it, I'm usually a walking omelet...so I found myself using it, too.

Don't know about a "future" in ministry, since I believe we all have one presently, whether we're actively conscious of it or not. Theologically, I'm not a "rapture & reign" kind of guy. Not to get to deep into it, but see Acts 1:7. All I know is that I'll be 46 in a few weeks, so relatively speaking...these are MY last days. And I'm trying to swear off eggs of all kinds.

"Why" New Orleans is a much lengthier and deeper discussion. Whatever God's reasons, or if one believes in no god at all, the situation does reveal our frailty. Whatever one thinks of what Jesus meant in the text cited, He also said "When you see these things, lift your heads, because your redemption is near." That's not a message of despair or panic. He may have meant the end of all things. Or He may have meant hard times can make us deeper. Or He may have meant both. It'll be fun to find out. And since He also said "the Kingdom is in you", how near do we need the Kingdom to be? What if it already exists, awaiting only our pledge of citizenship?

Quite seriously though, I look forward to my own mortal departure...although I'm not planning an immediate trip.

People have been saying that for hundreds of years.

The end for some cults was supposed to be 1900.

You don't have to worry about the end of the world until December 21, 2012.

That will be the end of the world as we know it, the end of the modern era, the end of the current times (The End Times), and, coincidentally, the end of the Mayan Calendar...

I ain't no spiritual leader or nuthin'... but... oh, wait... I am an ordained minister... maybe I do know what I'm talkin' about...

We'll just see in seven years, now won't we...<P ID="signature">______________

With the renewed nostalgic flavored energy crisis, the end of the world depends on Daylight savings Time under going another extension. Therefore it will end on Nov 7 2012 at7pm edt when it is officially annouced that Pat Buchanan has been elected President. There will be hell to pay.

End of the World = 2 out, nobody on, 0-2 count, top of the 9th, Ameriquest Field, Rangers lead by 7, up 3-0 in the World Series. Herrrrrre's the windup...and the pitch...

Bam!

Or that Pat Buchanan business could be right. ;)

Jody!

I should hope the end of the world doesn't come as a result of the Rangers being in the World Series. I want to at least live to see that.

Yes and they inspired the Earl of Sandwich's butler to create a snack called ..The Sandwich. The sandwich was missing a key ingredient, thus the Mayans invented..you know what it is .."Mayanaise". Decades later Hellman's bought them out and changed the name to Mayonaise, thus ended the Mayans. Now you know...the rest of the story. Pauuulll Harrvey..Goodday.:)
