Jody Dean goes out with a bang... again!

Following last year's genius comment about David Henry as the KLUV Morning Team said goodbye before the holiday break... This morning they were saying that the KLUV PD gave them a last minute memo informing them that a meeting had been called for 10AM this morning. They were saying that is never a good sign on a Friday and right before vacation. He said they are SUPPOSED to be back in two weeks... SUPPOSED to be but they better brush up on their Spanish just in case. And then he added "Well, stranger things have happened... they flipped one of our sister stations to sports (The Fan) and look how well that's worked out." I nearly ran off the road! ;D

Sorry, can't see them changing K-LOVE. They have bigger problems at 105.3 as we all know. I think it is a stunt. If they got rid of Jody that would not suprise me, but they will not change formats. They might cut cost on the morning show however. We will see what happens.

Oldies are an endangered format everywhere. It would not surprise me a bit if they did a "classic hits" flip, which recently happened in Houston. Former oldies listeners hardly noticed the difference.

Of course, the oldies station in Houston sucked for years, every since they reduced the playlist, KLUV is one of the great legacy stations in the country. Somehow, I don't see CBS just handing over the audience to Platinum, but maybe they are going to shuffle everything around. After all, the suits have to do something to prove they are actually doing work.

KLUV is already a "classic hits" station.

that's what I thought. I still maintain that they could cut salaries on the Morning Show and play music and do a little news. If they were smart, CBS would retain Jody and put him back in the mornigns on KRLD. I think he did a great job in the morning on that station. With Cidael in the shape they are in, I am not sure the longevity of WBAP's current line up. This may be a good time to put Jody on KRLD. I would even put it on KRLD FM and toss jagger and the whole crew.

After Russ & Company being let go along with Debi Diaz and others... as they were leaving for Christmas break they were joking around about the possibility of them not coming back at all and Jody said (and I am parphrasing here as it has been a year) "Although we all may be out work you can count on one thing... David Henry will still have a job." cue music! 8)

Their Killing KLUV? Folding to Platinum? NOOO! NOOOOO!
I love KLUV!

Great now where will I get my Oldies?
aside from my Part 15 and Platinum there all gone!

Maybe Platinum will pick up casem?

I am not sure Id be surprised, but what would take its place if it did occur? What does dallas radio honestly NEED? No CHR 93.3/106.1 & 102.9, Rock (97.1/102.1), Country (99.5 & 96.3), Hip Hop (97.9 & 104.5) Spanish: (Can't list them all) Christian: (94.9 KLTY). So my question, What would be need like I said...(or wqhat could challenge what we've got)?

Oldies stations do great under PPM's. KLUV has been top 10 now the past 3 months in 25-54 (CBS-FM in NY even better). I would suggest everyone take a deep breath; and relax. And what exactly are the terms of Jody's contract?

Summers, you and I need to go run a station in Grand Bahama. We'll call our company "Last Resort Broadcasting". Won't make any money, but if the boat from Jamaica shows up every Monday no one will care.

Surely there's room for a couple of niche music stations in a metropolitan area.

Blasphemy! The focus-grouped music goons will arrive at your door shortly. Please remain passive. Perhaps you would like to hear some Lady GaGa while you wait?

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It is called a "bit".

The fact that many can't recognize one when they hear it is probably the same reason many have never advanced beyond board op status and can't find a job in this industry and are relegated to bitching and moaning on message boards.

Although I have no idea who Steve Eberhart is to the radio business... the original reason for the post was not to sound the station flipping format alarm... Obviously I know it was a bit (as it was last year)... The intent of my post was to point out the shot Jody took at The Fan.
