Jody's Joke... (AND HILARITY ENSUED)

Dateline: Dallas, TX, 2-March-2013 @ 9:20 AM

Jody Dean said this (not a direct quote, but close enough):
Today's the anniversary of the day that Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 pts in a single game.... and the only thing comparable in today's NBA is that that's number of children NBA players pay child support to

and HILARITY ENSUED!!

That's GREAT.

Hmm...30 teams...15 players/team (12 active)...450 players...200 (estimated) dads...1..6 kids per dad average...320 kids...

What was so funny?

[May one assume this wasn't a sly Larry Johnson-Charlotte Hornets reference?]

Hey, your calculus is too accurate.

Using your starting point estimate of only 200 dads, and "Jody's calculus", each dad having 100 kids, would yield 20,000 total kids.

Jody's math is well.... funny!

Math wasn't exactly my forte either. This tends to surprise some people because I'm somewhat tech savvy.

Better Joke... "on this date Wilt Chamberlain Scored 100 TIMES.... THEN HE PLAYED BASKETBALL".

"on this date Wilt Chamberlain Scored 100 TIMES.... THEN HE PLAYED BASKETBALL"

When you say it like that, it takes on a very Zippo-ish style and feel.

don't know who zippo is, but i sure like his lighters... but really for me this is an example of [b the kind of joke that writes itself[/b].. not many on radio DO this kind of thing, and if you correctly recounted jody's "Rambling" joke to get to the punch line, he didn't quite make it. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT BREVITY.

--->The ZIP Dude is not associated with Zippo Manufacturing Company of Bradford, Pennsylvania, or any of it's subsidiaries (I don't think!):

--->JRZFM100 does not have a photographic memory, but did get as close as possible to accurately reproducing Mr. Dean's comments; Even without a transcript, Mr. Dean was, in his very signature style, verbose in getting to the punch line. Perhaps that was to fill up the time allotted by the particular song's intro.

Mr. Dean effectively conveyed to this listener the implication that NBA players have 100 children

not many on radio DO this kind of thing

They say this cat Zippo's a bad mother.... SHUT YOUR MOUTH.... but I'm talkin' about Zippo!

Zippo was also the original morning DJ on the Dallas' original Kiss-FM (1984-87). About two years in, they took him off mornings and brought in Walton & Johnson.

Yes, Zippo is from the original (ABC / Gannett?) KISS-FM, Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth!

In '88 Pure Gold (a SMN sat format) debuted in Abilene, Texas, with the sign on of Lone Star 98 (Anson)... and my friend Glen from KISJ-FM in Brownwood told me. "Pure Gold ain't so bad cause they got Zippo in the Morning... you got to hear this guy he's from original KISS." Thus my indoctrination to the Zip Dude's way of life started some 25 years ago!

On Pure Gold, I believe there used to be a "Zippo in the Morning... Zippo in the Morning" jingle or something to that effect. I'd love to hear it again.

UM, separately, did anyone notice that one post mentioned the word RAMBLE and Jody Dean in the same thought?

Yes, I skipped over amplifying that point in my typical shark like fashion intentionally due to my having been over-zealously critical and harsh of Jenny Q and Jay Creswell in past posts.

Sorry y'all.

It'Z not like that...

But, really, I haven't been this big of a fan of one particular jock since Don Geronimo was on WAVA, circa 1985.

It's the quickness, sarcasm and wit, the thought process behind the jock!
