Joseph Barbera, the co-creator of animated shows like Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo and others, has passed. Cause of passing is natural causes. He was 91. His co-creator, William Hanna, passed away in 2001. I was a fan of their animation, followed by Warner Bros., then Disney.....thoughts?

I'd always wondered what he and Mr Hanna thought of Cartoon Network/Time Warner, etc. allowiing other artists from John Kricfalusi ("Ren and Stimpy") to Sean McFarlane ("Family Guy")liberally portraying their time honored characters ("Yogi Bear" "Fred Flinstone" etc) in less than flattering situations....

At 47, I'm over iit..but after growing up watching all those great toons, it was initially unnerving to see a senile, incarcerated Ranger Smith, a rabid Boo-Boo bear, Fred Flinstone urging you to vote no on 'Indian Gaming" and Barney Rubble...um...well, you ll see the "Family Guy" rerun eventually...

ah...artistic license...
