Joe Case Goes Hippie

Joe Case, former local weather guru, is set to become a guru to Nashville Baby Boomers, at least on Saturdays. It'll be announced tomorrow on Hippie Radio 94.5 that Joe will take on the 10-3 midday shift every Saturday. I suppose that'll still leave Sundays (and the rest of the days of the week) for Joe to be guru to his Bellevue church congregation. Maybe we'll learn if Joe really had hippie roots all those years ago...?

Don't know if Joe was ever a hippie, but he sure has the radio credentials. Joe was P.D. at a few stations in Jackson back in the day and he was very good at it. I suspect he'll be good at this, too.

Joe's starting off with Saturday mornings, live and local. Chris Lucky is also here in Nashville. The rest is currently VTed. FTR Joe's hair is long, he even has an earring and has the look of a radical 60's rebel.

I think the station has rolled out very nicely and is building a small, but loyal audience. Haven't seen much on here lately on what you're thinking about it....

Certainly what we've all complained about Nashville NOT having...a wider and deeper playlist...biggest problem is not much power...I lose it headed East in the early mornings before i get to the 109 exit..Not real "HIP" , pun intended, on the branding ..slightly better than calling it oldies I guess..I didn't know Chris was local...great voice..but I'm assuming he is not from around here..and good to have another local talent now involved..song for song...WVCP may have a better playlist as I can listen to them until I go under the Alexandra exit on I40...and even I am sometimes surprised what is played...

Hippie should do well in the 60 to 80 demo. They should have a "help me i've fallen and cant get up" weekend and call it broken hippie

The studio acoustics when Joe is on match those when MarKK McGill does afternoon drive. They don't match Spider's acoustics. I have seen some old Nashville TV clips of Joe hosting a "cool" late night music entertainment show.

Have you heard their spot aimed at advertisers explaining when "baby boomers" were born?

According to a few tweets from Joe's wife, he is VT,ing his show from the house as well.

Well, dang, I'm building a "studio" at home. How do get one of these VTing jobs? With the music library I have, I could do the whole dang show.

When you wrote this Joe had only been on the air for one five-hour shift. He does Saturdays 10A to 3P. He could be doing his "weather specialist" bits from home. And BTW, at 4:30am I hear the same WX cut that ran the previous day at 4:30pm.

Here is the tweet. Interpret how you like:

Upstairs in his studio @joecase is voicing work for Hippie Radio. Glad he's been giving this opportunity. He's rockin' it up there.
