Joe Chille now WECK VP/Programming

Curious... eight out of how many? 8th of 10 is different than, say, 8th of 110, no?

And while I have maintained all along that I "root" for most any small/local businesses (in this case, a radio station) to succeed, I'm not blind to the reality that I see. Here is a fact that I know... other than a discussion with Dick Bauerle a couple of weeks ago, I have heard/seen zero about WECK in public. Maybe that doesn't matter.

When is the last time you heard/seen about any radio station in public? Very few.

There are 35 stations licensed to the market, not including translators and LPFM stations or, even, the Canadian stations that cover parts of the market.

Considering that Buddy's station is a "local" class AM with two translators, doing as well as he is doing is a commendable achievement.

Not true. I regularly see ads, promotions, hear the station, discussion referencing many. WYRK, ESPN Radio, WCMF, WGR, don't know the letters - but "KISS", CHUM-FM, WBEN, WHLD, wkbw/wwkb - or whatever it is called now, WBEE, again don't know the letters - but 97rock. Those are just what I recall over the past week. Possibly, that is "very few" to you. But the fact that I remember them seems to suggest that it is enough.

Thanks, and agreed, 8 out of 35+/- is something of which to be proud.

I have no idea from what planet you are hearing all kinds of things about these stations, but I am not. Also, you did not mention many huge stations. WECK is the only station doing outside broadcast marketing on the #1 TV station in Buffalo, WGRZ. I am a p1 radio listener and hear nothing about any of these stations, except for maybe WBEN and WGR. I am not saying you are wrong from what you have heard, but we are totally not in the same circles. WECK has had more publicity in the Buffalo News since I took over, than the radio industry combined in Buffalo for the past ten years. Any yes, people read the Buffalo News.

Buddy, I'm curious. What outside broadcast marketing are you doing with WGRZ-TV? I watch their nightly news at six each night and I don't recall seeing anything at all regarding WECK.

Glenn Topolski is succeeding Joe Chille in PM Drive along with being the other one holding the VP/Programming title.

And - just curious, anyone know what Buddy did to have his status here listed as "banned"?

Word is he came out of an uptempo record with a dedication about a dog dyin'. Egregious. Ponderous.

In general... and reading the site rules... postings that are offensive in any way can result in a deleted post, a temporary hiatus or a permanent ban depending on the degree of the offense and any history of past offenses.

It's all well defined in the terms of service.

Doc Holiday might have said, "Poor Buddy Shula. He was just too high strung."

He took himself off of Facebook after the Steve Cichon's exit. There's only the WECK fan page now.

Why the big deal? Mr Shula is just trying to do something different. Wish we had a WECK where I live instead of the dreck that passes for radio. After all it's just a little talkin' and playing records on the radio, ain't no big thing! Okay so it's oldies, it's not like at 66 I'm going to get all excited listening to The Chainsmokers!

Mike, it was Mr. Shula who turned it into a "big thing". And he's back, by the way.
