Joe Clair Confirms His Exit From WPGC Mornings

Morning host Joe Clair has confirmed his departure from Audacy Hip Hop 95.5 WPGC-FM Morningside MD/Washington DC writing, “Today was my last broadcast. It has truly been one of the best experiences of my life returning home and hosting a morning show on a station I grew up listening to.”

Clair rejoined WPGC in 2015 after beginning his career hosting a Sunday night Hip Hop show with Big Tigger. He has also had on-air stints as co-host of the Russ Parr Morning Show, co-hosting afternoons at 96.3 WHUR with Frank Ski, hosting at WQHT New York and Rap City on BET. Clair’s departure comes along with the previously confirmed exit of midday host Sunni Puric (see below) yesterday.

Both hip-hop FMs have surprisingly poor ratings in the market. DC101 is seeing its best numbers in decades. Both it and 97.1 WASH are benefitting mightily from Mix 107.3's demise.

I personally would love to see 95.5 abandon Urban programming in favor of Hot AC or another workplace friendly format, but I doubt that is in the cards.
