Joe Crummey back to LA?

According to this website Joe Crummey is out at WABC. I know a lot of people who loved him when he was on the air here. Any chance of his returning to the LA market?

I miss Joe-J-J-J-oe and his Crummey Show. Bill Carroll sort of has the female friendly midday talkradio audience lockup up on KFI and I wouldn't wish a class act like Joe a gig on KABC. KFI could use him for weekends though.

Joe was good back in the late 80's when he was at KFI (Renters are scum etc). But then he succumbed to the pressure of talk radio and became a right wing political talk show host. But guess what there are 10,000 right wing political hosts there and Joe wasn't that convincing. So he bounced from LA to Arizona to NY and his MO has been the same. He gets hired and then gets fired. So I don't think he will make a dent in LA radio. Who can he beat? Handel, John and Ken?

By the way Bill Handel this past Saturday was very heavily plugging that a new host would join the Saturday line-up and he couldn't contain his excitement. I wonder if it is Crummey that is coming back to LA and back to KFI. I think Bill liked Crummey when he was here and I can't see Bill get that excited about anyone else. Particularly I bet Crummey is willing to work for less than he was paid back in 1988, so it would be a non-brainer for KFI to bring him back.

I hope they give him the weekday slot after John and Ken. That would really be great. Just like old times.

I think the Saturday 2:00 pm slot is like the minor leagues for Robin. They scout talent (new or old) and If Crummey or any other host (including Frosty, Lisa Ann Walker or even Conway) lights up the board and the ratings books, then she will move him or her to whatever major league slot.

At the end of the day, Robin is a shrewd businesswoman. If any hosts garners spectacular ratings or a potential for this, Bill Carroll or Tim Conway Jr are vulnerable no matter what type of "decent" ratings they may be attracting and what type of contract they have. I doubt they have contracts guaranteeing they remain in their time slots.

Both guys are the fluff boys at KFI and fill in for anyone or work any holiday management wants them to work on. Neither are in the league of Handel, J&K or Rush.

Is Lisa Ann Walter still on KFI? She seems like a sort of non-entity there. Handel, J&K and Rush in the same league? Not sure about that...

Crummy on the weekends seems like such an obvious no-brainer, I would be shocked if it doesn't happen. I agree, Lisa Ann is not much of an entity. It always seems to me like the reason she is on is simply counter-programming to weekend football - since they guys are all at home watching football, she is KFI's equivalent of the Today show for women who are out shopping without hubbys and boyfriends on weekend afternoons. So whimsical girl talk might work for that, but it is certainly nothing to build a line-up around.
