Joe Crummey

Sure glad the Evil Joe Crummey works for a P.D. who doesn't have a problem with a local talk show being hosted by someone 400 miles away ::) Guess all that bitchin' a couple years back about some shlub doing the same thing on KFWhyEye was just an act!

Joe Crummey still rocks!

I miss his KFYI opening, though. BTO "Let It Ride" is still his song, and you can't forget the: "Your boss is a jerk, your wife likes the pool boy, your daughter got WHAT pierced?!"

My one and only time calling a show (or any station for that matter, believe it or not...) was his show, and it was a horror experience for an already nervous girl (I was a high school freshman at the time) and a phone problem where I just couldn't hear him. Embarrassing! He couldn't hear me either, and said I ditched him to watch the Suns.

That open was replaced with Billy Preston singing the Joe Crummey theme: "..here's the talk show that you really like", ad-nauseum. What made the original opening so memorable was the intonation in KFWhyEye's voice-over guy....nails just about everything they put in front of him. (KT'R falls really short in imaging and promotion). The Nurse and I share your Crummey infatuation...he's always entertaining and everything is done with intelligence. In a word.... EVIL

KLL, you've not been "Moooo!-ved" to be the 110th nationwide caller in
the Kurrent KOOL Kontest, running ten times each weekday?

What would be really neat is if our local Large Marge was a winner from
the national Large Marge. :)

Today he started his evil show talking about the woman who let her kid drown in the bathtub. Now, don't misunderstand me because I am not criticizing the parent for this because I already know it's someone else's fault! It's yahoo, or hotmail, or gmail, or aol's fault! If computers weren't invented, then she would never have felt the need to check her email and this would've never happened.... and whoever just happened to write her and keep her interest, I feel sorry for them because I bet it's their fault as well. Damn Cox and Netzero and whatever other internet servers are out there because they allowed this to happen!

Anyway, before I say something dumb like "watch your kids around water", let me stop talking about it.

As far as Joe Crummey goes, at first I didn't agree as much with the things he says as I do now, but that was on topics that he should've left up to George Noory or people who love and get science to talk about. I think he's a great talk show host, but he should not start laughing or try to joke around on certain touchy subjects, especially when he's being truthful about it! (For those who are observant, I just let the cat out of the bag!) If I was given the opportunity to be on talk radio for one day, I'd probably get fired the same day because I would not sugarcoat one bit. It will not be me telling people what they wish to hear or believe, or going "hahahahehe there is a double standard hehehe they can get away with that, but if I did that hahahaha I'll be called a hehehehe um but it's ok though I understand hehehehe alright we shouldn't be talking about this because some will not understand me and might get upset... did you watch Sex in The City?" No. I will be the early 2000's Eminem of talk radio.

Um.... Leave your kid in a bathtub to check email. Now, I'm still trying to understand the concept here.. and regardless of how hard I try, I cannot understand or get this type of thinking. You turn on the water, put the kid in the tub, leave the tub to fill up with water, AND THEN somewhere during the entire process, all the sudden the brain activity starts increasing and it's "oh, I think I need to check my email.." so you WALK AWAY and EXIT the bathroom... Log i... I need someone to explain this to me because it just does not click with my way of thinking, no matter which order I try to put the series of events that lead to this in.

In other words,

No kidding, the late Billy Preston? I don't recall this at all. Was this when KFYI moved Joe to PMD? I thought the opening changed to his own guitar playing and him singing about "The Joe Crummey Show."

Gotcha! Actually it was the Evil Joe Crummey who claimed it was Billy Preston. Crummey openly denied any connection to that song, in spite of everyone knowing better. Somewhere buried in the annals (or is that anals?) of this website you'll find we penned the complete lyrics. Fortunately for everyone's sake, all I can recall is:

Here's the talk show that you really like... and I aint no dummy. I feel so happy when I'm behind the mike, 'cause I'm Joe Crummey. Then something about being in your car on the drive home....being on KFWhyEye...being humble and handsome....yada, yada, yada. Maybe if Nurse Jeff picks up some cough syrup at CVS the rest will come back to me!

This is exactly why I don't listen to Talk Radio.

Why on earth would a host choose the "baby died in the bathtub" story for a subject?

Yeah, no kidding. What kind of angle could you possibly have, especially given a typical KTAR talk show host. "Babies dying in bathtubs, good or bad? gimme a call!"

I'm sorry, I know this isn't the popular thing to say around here (but that's what I do), I don't understand the appeal of Joe Crummey. Joe puts on a phony, "puking" voice and appears to be in love with the sound of his own voice. There's nothing spectacular about the show at all, the topics are contrived, generally frivolous drivel or are topics where people can simply call in and vent outrage, re: bathtub case.

This thread pretty much sums up the show, most of the posts revolve around when he would sing his old intro. Jack Cole is rolling over in his grave with his Ronald Reagan parodies.

Viva Jose Crummey!

:) ;) :D ;D :) ;) :D ;D :) ;) :D ;D :) ;) :D ;D  :) ;) :D ;D Los Buckeye Boyz

It's funny how many former KFYI folks I appreciate more on KTAR than I did back in my KFYI days. Maybe it's just me getting older, or it's just that certain personalities are better in certain situations. KFYI must not have been their "home". I wonder how long this talk radio phase is going to last also because usually I get into it for a while, then I'm out of it for a while. Same with TV these days.

Btw, I must have missed the part where Joe Crummey actually took calls and had an in depth discussion about the baby in bathtub because all I heard regarding that issue was his quick touch on the story in the beginning of the show - right before he quickly moved on to something else. I surely hope that because I left an opinion about the situation within the same paragraph as Joe Crummey's name, that people are not concluding this must mean Joe Crummey must have had thoughts identical to mine.
