Joe Elliott on 970 WGTK - Thoughts?

Overall, I think its not bad. Its so hard for him not to say NewsRadio 84 WHAS, he's caught himself several times after listening.

Its back to the good Joe talking about local issues but man does the advertising he has to talk about seems like every 20 minutes gets old. I understand sponsorship and how important it is to have but his show is already cut into with news every 30 minutes, commericals and now him having to talk about the product himself on the radio leaves not much time to talk about what listeners want to hear.

I find it funny that Joe had some politician on today talking about the same thing that Mandy Connell is "stoked" about having on tomorrow on WHAS.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to see 84 pull the plug.

What did you guys think?

I think it's been pretty good so far. It did seem that there weren't many callers yesterday, so Joe had to keep talking to fill time. Today with his guest it was better, but seemed like not many callers. Hopefully that will improve as word gets around that Joe is back.
A little after 1 P.M. yesterday, I did hear Joe give out the phone # as 571-8484 and 1-800-444-8484 :)

I've enjoyed the new show and like the fact that 970 offers local news at the bottom of the hour unlike 84.

Yeah,

I find it funny that the small 5,000 watts of a radio station has already kicked 840's ass.

Mandy has the same guest on tomorrow talking about the same thing.

Yes, it will get better as word spreads around about him being back I believe.

Elliott knows what he's doing! :)

[Imagine this as an early Bob Newhart routine...]
[Phone rings]
Hello WHAS!
No ma'am. He isn't here anymore. I know ma'am, he is on the radio, but he's not here. He's not on THIS station anymore. We have Rush. I know ma'am, well that's you're opinion. Joe isn't here. He was for 20 years but he isn't now. He made a mistake. No ma'am I don't know the number. Well, keep listening and I'm sure he will give the right number again. Same to you ma'am!

Elliott! Karls here! Quit giving out our number! We're getting more calls now than during McConnel's show!

Shoot, the high school station WNAS beats WHAS, ha ha! But I agree with you. It is great hearing Joe back on the air and local news is nice too. I hope that one day we will get more local radio back with some people who are interesting to listen to and discuss local things. I travel a lot with my job so I listen to many internet stations on my iPhone via my car's audio system but when I'm in the Louisville area I enjoy hearing Joe from noon to 3pm.

WHAS news at 6pm used audio from Joe's show this afternoon. Joe had on the attorney for Isaiah Howes who shot and killed Covington.

I heard that, and it was a good interview. He also had the biological father involved in an adoption case with a Sellersburg couple who are attempting to keep the child they have raised for the last 3 years. That couple had appeared on some national morning shows including GMA. Not too shabby for his 4th day at the new job.
